| Apex Techie Lite | Hi, guys I have ben TRYING to get "bright" UV cathodes everywhere and Im thinking now that its just the reactive things in my case that are the issue, maybe you can clear this up for me. By bright I mean, that are strong and make the UV reactive objects glow (or "react") with out having to be so close they're touching. I was under the impression that you could just have it at least 6 inchs away and the things would glow. I know that the rest of the immediate area should have a lack of regualr light to see the effect. Or do I need better UV reactive cables etc. The do light up a bit , but not really that well/ Everyone know what I mean? BTW I HAVE found that the cable from the ULTRA X-connect PSU REALLY glow, even a little way away from the light source, but that PSU isnt going to support my rig. Too bad, it was really nice when I had one. Last edited by mattyboy; 23-December-05 at 10:41 AM.. | |

| Etiquette & English Gentleman | 8 did it for me ... including 80mm round ones directly over fans. Even with UV reactive IDE cables, UV reactive sleeving everywhere & UV fans, those 8 UV CCFLs were only about as bright as 2 regular blue ones / ![]() edit - check out http://gallery.pcapex.com/showphoto.php?photo=5099 - 7 UV tubes (I broke one) ... obviously the side panel is off, the pic is (iirc) an 8 second exposure in complete darkness - UV lighting is never going to be really bright. Consider UV reactive paint too - there are some good examples in the PR gallery - you don't have to go for the Tron look though ![]() | |

Slightly more effective than average, and all my Ultra ones worked & have kept working, unlike average CCFLs - more than a few of which never worked or failed very quickly. Ultra CCFLs look the same as average though, I suspect they're just made to slightly higher standards & have way better QC. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
