Question What would you do with it?

I'm working a review for mnpctech and he included the two items in the picture below. It is called "Modder's Mesh". They are metal, extremely pliable, and easy to cut. The top one is a honeycomb pattern and the bottom one is a tighter round hole pattern. I know he uses this stuff in his custom cases and he is now selling it by the square foot at his online store.

Now I want to tell you up front that this ain't a plug for mnpctech. When I opened the package and saw it I thought, "That's nice, but what would I do with it?" But this afternoon I pulled it out again and started to think "What COULD you do with this stuff?" So I started to make a list of various mods that I could do with it.

Then I started to think about you guys on the forum, and wondered what would you guys do with it? I'm curious what modding you pimps could dream up using this stuff. I've seen some pretty wild ideas on this forum (especially from Mist).

What would you do with it?

I would probably try replacing the front plastic "grill" area on the front of my Antec case and then light it from behind...

Could make custom fan grills out of it...

i'm not sure how strong it is, but i could easily make a drive cage with a fan.

instant fan grill. or any type of air hole fan or not.

put it between to thin sheets of plexi for that reinforced window look.

use the honey comb mesh(painted yellow) inside a Bee Hive themed case with some fake bees and yellow silicon for added touches.

could also use it as protection for cold cathodes, and other mods.

you could even use it to fix screwed up window holes you want to fill in. Simple glue it in place and start laingon the BONDO...

With the HEX design mesh you could plug LED's into it and wire them up to make a Light Bright picture for a window!

I'd make pasta.

Then play battleship.

Put a cold cathode behind it and get a bunch of Lite-brite pins.

Wire a ton of green led's in it to look like something from "The Matrix".

Damn AntiM, I think you are on to something there. I love the lite-brite idea!

Buzz, it's pliable, but it's pretty damn strong.

with the cc protecter you could route wires and cables with it to give it that industrial look.

I could use somthing like that to form the shape of rear wings on my cadillac pimp-ride case like on a '58 cadi.
Make the basic shape w /mesh Then use resin to lay up the surface.

BA is that aluminum?

you can get it in aluminum and stainless I believe. I have checked out the hex stuff from a bunch of manufacturers about 5 months ago. It gets up to 78% open area with the Hex design.

You could use it to build and air filter.

or get 2 pieces of each get them 1cm apart from each other, hook each side to the house current put a CCFL on the other side and vola - instant bug lite.

with that many holes on the larger honeycomb mesh, just think of the awesome free-flow fan grilles you could just hack with that stuff...all with a dremel or a pair of pliers, i mean, those large holes must somehow conform to the hole positions of a typical 80mm somehow...

It's aluminum, but pretty high quality. I snipped off a piece (unlike tearing off a piece, which needs it's own thread) and started bending it back and forth. I got like 30 bends before it broke. Good stuff.

I am still thinking about AntiM's Lite-Brite idea.

That's probably what is was originally designed for.
