Yeah... I'm kinda the black sheep with my co-workers on that score myself. They just give me off looks when I say I'm working on compiling my kernel, or why my Ti-4200 VIVO Gainward kicks ass...

Hell, back when I was the sole admin in a marketting company... they didn't wanna know HOW I fixed it... they just wanted to know I fixed it. So I got to play with computers all day, but I couldn't talk about it with anyone really...

Had a gal who was self-proclaimed heavily into computers... she didn't have the patience to walk through a single network cable install...

She was also terrified to touch anything inside the case when I installed a NIC.

Agreed all, I have a few friends in compsci with me that dig this ****, but even most of them are like "Hardware, whats that?" they might be able to speak fluent objective-c or java+ but they dont know **** about procs or airfloe... this place is a great place to bounce ideas around

I don't know of a single person that I can talk about hardware modding and performance tweaks. I've tried with a couple computer savvy folks but after 5 minutes they always need to go make a phone call. They will say something like "I find that running 1 drive per channel gives optimal performance" and I'll be like "No, Bro, You need RAID 5 running ATA133's, then crank your FSB up!" Then they go make a call.

Guess that's why my post count is so high, you guys are the only peeps who understand.

Yah, I know the feeling about being the only one who knows anyhting really about hardware. A few of my friends are atleast pretty good with hardware, and a few others are good with software, but no one is into OCing.

I used to have a friend that was knowledgable, but he got divorced, and his ex-wife is still good friends with my wife, so we don't talk anymore. Have a friend on ICQ, but that's about it. I'll drive by BA's house and shout computer stuff at it.

I love this site, everyone I know thinks I am so friggin knowledgeable about comps yet Im not I 'm always here with like 800 posts and like 190 of them have been comp questions for you guys to answer and teach me , I thank you all.
Was havin trouble there trying to get a good score on 3dMarkwith my Epox if some of you may remember , I was gettin like 13000 with a sweet system and it was pissin me off.
Anyways I went to 3dmarks' forums and other places , OMFG I was called an idiot , one guy swore I was a liar with a system like that and my score were so low he said he couldnt belive I would post such BS and try to lie to everyone on my first post ( said I had an overcloked Duron and souped up 9500 and dont BS them cuz they are smart ), lol. It goes on and on I was bashed and flaemd pretty funny .
Here all I got was help and answers as to why my stuff scores low , oh well just wanted to say thx to all ya'll I guess.

I have to agree this is a great place. When I needed help someone was there to answer my questions. When I have some knowledge about something new I read I can spit it out here. All my friends from school live to far away to talk to them all the time about stuff like this.

I dunno... you people are awesome, but most of the times I post something meaningful about my comp... a question I have... you all leave me hanging. I have about 4 or 5 unanswered questions in one thread alone... a recent one.

Anyway... people are great, they just don't love me.

EDIT: Outcast, when that happens you need to bump it. Sometimes I have only a few minutes to check the forums, then the next time I check your thread won't come up because I already checked it.

I'm not saying I would have the answer, but that is common to most of the Pimps. If you have an unanswered question and you bump it, one of the members will run it down for you.

I get the same feeling when im around my friends ill be babbling about hardware and software and they be yawning or stunned because they don't know what the hell im talking about. But when there's a computer to be fixed im the first to be called. Pr is a great site for all geeks alike wheter you like getting pimp slapped by a duck or a goat this is the place to go. PR forever!!
