| Ok I have a few questions for the all knowing case gurus here. I am thinking of making a case for myself. I want the case to be a cube, about 1' by 1' by 1'. I want the outside to be a black gloss finish, and completely un blemesed by anything, except for the back side which will have all of my cords comming out of it. I'll have the case supported by a pedestal made form maple, and 4 stainless steel rods supporting it. It will sit on a singular point. Tell me what you think of my idea, and some pics will soon follow. | ||

| There are more sff mobos coming on the market these days, you can get P4 and Athlon boards that come in at 7.5 inches by 12 inches, depends what he wants to use it for. I have one of the Shuttle Athlon systems, it doesn't overclock, but it folds like a demon There are Via EPIA mobo's being used in all kinds of freaky applications, and they only go up to 1GHz... I know they don't rock the overclocking world, but it sounds like they make up for it in style. Aahhhh ADD is a great thing isn't it *was a hellion in school* | ||

| Ok, it sounds very interesting. My thoughts on this are: 1)What type of material are you planning one using? Acryllic is very versatile but it sometimes can be hard to work with. You can do practically anything with wood, although this might be heavier and some sanding and such will be needed. Also, wood will cut down on your area on the inside due to the thicker walls it will probably have. 2)Where are the cdrom drives going? The unblemished look you are going for wont work unless you plan on having to open the case to pop in a cd. Or you might be able to mount them facing the back but then you will have to reach around every time you plan on putting in a cd. 3)1 foot by 1 foot doesnt allow for many options. You will definitely need an smaller mobo such as a mini-itx. You can see some cases here : www.mini-itx.com . A smaller power supply and a slim line cdrom as seen in laptops could help out your space problems alot. 4)I dont really like this idea for the stand, but that is just my opinion. Personally, I would say give it some little rubber feet just to get it off the ground. Thats just my ideas. | ||

| I was thinking about the 1 corner mounting thingie. You would have to have a pretty big base to help keep it steady. And you are going to have to connect those steel poles pretty well. You wouldnt want to wake up to a broken computer because you failed to mount it properly. | ||

| I think there might be better options than having a "door" open all of the time when you have the computer on. That would add to the noise and I think it would get annoying after a while. And if you plan on mounting it on the side, this door would probably stick out some. | ||

BAD idea, you never know what they could be mounting down there. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| As long as you have enough mounting holes for your board, i dont see why that would be a problem. Unless you are talking about ripping out pci slots off your board....you arent are you? Just make sure your mounting holes line up before you butcher your mobo tray hehe | ||
