I want to use a 2nd psu to run a spare cdrom as stand-alone cd-player, but i haven't got any room for that psu. My noname case is a midi, my 5&1/4" bays are full, no space available on the floor of the case (wouldn't look nice through the window ), & hanging from the top just isn't a good idea .

Is it a lost case?
Have you (seen) any creative ideas (in the net) on where to place it?

Jump the green and black wire to allow you to power it up without an ATX power connection and put it in it's own case. Hell, you can just let it sit on the desk that way.

hrrrmmmmm.... this is an interesting question you pose. For what my 2 cents are worht, I would put the PSU just under my current one, this may take some modding of your case. You may need to mae brackets to mount it with, though.

Putwig, what does yours power?

All of my fans and lights. My floppy drive, my burner, and my cd drive.

My main PSU runs only the mobo and the HDD.

It's a simple mod to do. Putwig did his with style, but you don't necessarily need to put it in it's own case.

No-can-do for two reasons. No space under my main psu, which also has a 2nd fun , so it must somehow suck some air. (the 2nd psu will prevent that) Thanx anyway

Very nice article indeed, and for a period of time (when i was thinking of building one of my own) i was searching for that kind of help. But now i know that not even this would fit inside the case. So why to bother? (the 240Voutput we have in Greece, the 5VDC cdrom standard needs, maybe some heatsink for 7805, i think are matters that i can easily face if i want to, since the main circuit is there)

It's something like this that i'm searching for, but i would like to incorporate it to my case in a way, that it will become a part of it, fit to the general idea (if you know what i mean ) Something like that german guy did (great link btw, thanx paige), with the difference that i don't own an aluminium lian-li, & don't have access in all the equipment he has : )
