Default do-it-yourself USB ports: possible?

is it possible to make your own USB ports/cables from scratch (or any port for that matter, legacy, DVI, etc..) ? i think i remember seeing some pics of a port you can buy at radio shack and just solder the wires manually, but i cant seem to find it, and a lot of websites aren't exactly dial-up friendly. i've already found stuff you can use to make your own d-sub ports, and audio stuff too, but how about USB?

Cypress was supposed to open a shopping cart for these items August 18. Guess they are late! But they have a phone number to contact.

Sunwill can sell them to you online now.

You can buy those things at any electronics supplier, such as mouser, or allied electronics. Any major electronics parts supplier would do.

you can make most cables yourself except for new high bandwidth cables like dvi. you can but its alot of work because of the sheilding and having to order a quality conduit. you can make a vga cable but not a vga cable that supports resolutions far beyond xga without buying more expensive cable which makes that alot of work like a dvi cable. otherwise you can make any cable but with firewire and usb 2.0 you will have to use sheilded cable. stuff like serial, ethernet and ide is easy with crimps

Here's a couple I found in 5 Minutes on Dogpile.
Dogpile.com is your friend..........
But remember, do not assume all mobos or headers to be the same. Research the diagram for your application
