My names Rick, and i have had my own pc for about 2 years now and ever since i bought my own pc i have liked the idea of PC modding... i'd say this http://members.home.nl/gis/ was what got me into wanting to do it myself I am new to modding.

So i finally decided to get my own case with a window :O i orderd it this morning... the Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case. Ive read the review on this pimp rig website but i was wondering what you guys opinions was of it? or if any1 has it? Does any recomend anything i should buy to gow ith the case?

Welcome to PimpRig, Rick!

Nice link there with the HL2 case. Looks like the guy put a lot of work into it.

If you're looking for accessories for your new case, there are a bunch of mod stores out there: FrozenCPU, XOxide, SVC, Performance PC's, Jab-Tech, MNPC Tech, DragonModz, and the list goes on... Of course, the best mods (like the one you posted) usually take a lot more imagination rather than just bolting flashy parts together. What works best is to try to imagine your ideal case, then learn how to make it happen. There are plenty of people here willing to share their experience with painting, Dremels, bending plexi, wiring, watercooling, etc. It's a lotta fun!

I just finished a build using the black Tsunami Dream case with window. I consider it a great case, and did perform some minor alterations to it such as cutting away the top USB hatch and installing a blowhole, fan controllers and the like. I found the case to be well suited for my immediate needs; this particular build was not meant to be a radical mod, I just wanted a master system to use, while I start planning some "ground up and from scratch" projects.
I think that while many of the product choices are based on performance, some decisions are merely personal. Like Ford vs Chevy or Nikon vs Canon; and some people can argue these issues all day long. The main object is to get a good value for your dollar, good performance, and have fun while trying to be original.

I also have the Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case, and it is an awesome case just like all the reviews conclude. Everything is aluminum with the exception of the panles behind the front door.... Big plus. The front door is a very thick peice of aluminum, and the door hinges are all metal, so it doesn't feel like it wants to break ever...

This case does a great job of keeping everything cool, and with wiring out of the way (sleeved/tucked away) the airflow is great. With the stock fans and a quiet PSU and CPU cooler this case is wisper quiet.

I didn't really like how bright the front LED's were, so I just unpluged em, and I might replace them later with something smaller.

Although I havn't done any modding do mine, you can see pics of it in my profile.

The only real con I found was it doesn't have a removable motherboard tray... A minor thing compared to all the positives. You will be very pleased with your purchace.

Just a small thing to remember, be careful when installing all of your components... I manged to scratch my aluminum drive rack pretty good there so I had to take the time to fix that. Good luck, and keep us posted on any mods you plan on doing to it.

I had the same problem on my keyboard; every time I hit Caps Lock I got blinded. So I took out the LED's, used a black Sharpie to "tint" them, and replaced 'em. Ahh, much better...

wow, alot of replys in such little time. thanks alot guys

I havnt actually ever moved a whole computer into a new case before, so im kinda worried about that. But i think i should be able to do it if i take my time over slowly taking it all apart and putting it back in. Im most worried about moving my PSU... im not sure how to connect up all the fans etc...

My mobo is quite a small mother board as its form a pre-build PC. It only has 3 PCI slots and an AGP... I still hope it will fit

I am actually from England, so i am not sure how many of those websites listed for mods i will use seeing as i dont like 2 pay too much P&P

Thanks alot again guys

Sounds like you are just transferring all your existing components. If it's you first, just label EVERYTHING and lay it out on a spacious workbench. The one thing you DON"t label will be the thing that screws you up.
PLANNING AND PREPARATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS.

Great idea with the sharpie... I think I will try just using that until I get around to replacing them... Thanks

Check it out carefully before you dragged it to Repair?
Was the side door properly closed? The case has an intrusion detect in the door. Computer will stop running or not boot at all if the side door is ajar...........

I have another question for you all aswell please
My PSU is 250watts and on my old case it powered everything as well as a 8cm fan, but in this new case it will hav two 12cm fans to run aswelll, i was wondering if it would run 2 12 inch cathods and maybe 3 bright LEDs? or will it struggle?

would these work/ be ok? http://www.casetech.co.uk/product.php?productid=16403

Thanx alot again chaps

I would reccomend scraping the 250watt PSU. Not sure the specs or anything, but you can get PSUs pretty cheap many places... try www.newegg.com or www.frozencpu.com They both have very nice products, and you can get what you will need very cheap. Also, I'm not sure what kind of parts you will be running, but it is always better to have more then enough power, then it is to not have enough.

I want to know why those guys said you were lucky.... I bet it was either something really simple which they are going to charge you about 200 for. Anyway, post us with more information when you get it.

Just got it home and all set up. When i got there they said it was all working prefectly and what had happend was that i had missed out one of the rubber/plastic mother board mounts so one part was touchign the metal case meaning it short circuited it.

So they took it all apart and re did it (not missing any plastic/rubber washers out.... there not called washers i jsut cant remember the name lol.) They put it all 2getha and they said it worked fine, which means i was very lucky

BUT..... i cant seem to get my sound working.... do you tihnk the short circuiting may of some how damaged the sound? Its on-board sound.... im well annoyed

Oh and they charged me £40 which is about $85 i think...

NO SOUND :'(

I'm just taking a shot in the dark because this is what happend to me when I switched cases... Did your last case have front audio/mic ports that connected to your FAudio connector? If so, and you no longer have them, you may have to put jumpers back onto the connector.

Hope that helps

For that price you could have been well on your way to a mobotherboard upgrade.

Buy a current-gen (Audigy 2 ZS) or next-gen (X-Fi) Creative Labs solution for the replacement. On-board and most other audio solutions not only eat clock cycles, the sound sucks in comparison.

As far modifications go, I'd first carve (Dremel and tin-snips) out the stock fan grills. Then smooth the edges/burrs left behind and then apply edge molding. Additional Note:
Replace the *ss-lamenting stock fans. Thermaltake has an unhealthy addiction to non-modified(Rifled, Hybrid, Hypro) sleeve-bearing fans. The best are dual ball bearing. (Actually, that would be Ceramic bearing, If Arctic Cooling placed them in a normal housing and made them spin faster.)
I'd recommend Silverstone FM82 and FM121.

it did have a front sound and mic! its when i plug my headset in2 the back which goes directly in2 the motherbaord that it doesnt work... so it wont matter if the front mic/sound is in the connectors does it?
