Default Questions for an Antec Aria mod

Hi' fellow-modders

I have an Antec Aria case equipped with the motherboard MSI RS480M2, an AMD64 3200, 1 GB RAM and a Galaxy 6600GT Zalman Ed. My case runs pretty hot while playing WoW and has become unstable at times, so I'm trying to make cooler and more reliable. I've bought a couple of Papst 80mm fans and I intend to put one on each side of the case. I've cut a rectangular hole in the Arias top cover so hot air can leave the case (so I'm unable to undo that part). So my main questions for you guys are:
  1. Should both Papst fans blow inwards?
  2. I only have two 3 pin connectors on my mainboard (occupied by the CPU and GPU fan), what should I use for the Papst fans? I've heard/read a lot about the
mCubed T-Balancer TBAN-SL4 for PCI-slot, but is this overkill?
  3. If I wan't to trade my AMD64-3200 stock cooler, which one will fit underneath the Antec PSU on top of the MSU RS480M2?
  4. And the bonus question: Does anybody use the Arias front card and USB slots? I've not yet been able to make them work?
Best wishes,
Svend (and excuse this dane for the terrible english)

well---suprisingly the zalman 7000 series coolers will fit under the power supply----i have one on mine. for the fans, have one blowing in and one blowing out.......

Well since you have a hole cut in the top of your case already id put them both pointing inward personally. Another reason for this is the powersupply is pushing out already, and if youd throw another one into that duty also youd create a negative pressure in your case, which is condusive to dust.....which imo is bad but if you dont mind cleaning out your case every 2 weeks than go for it.

Hi' LwrS10 and Sparky

Thank's for the info. I've read that positive pressure in the case is a good idea, so I'll make both fans go inwards.

Glad to hear that the Zalman cooler will fit, even though I've read that there are some issues with the MSI mainboard and fitting. But I'm glad to hear that the Zalman at least is able to fit below the Arias PSU.

Still, I'm confused on how I should connect and control the Papst fans? Is there a simpler and less expensive way than the T-Balancer?

Cheers,
Svend

Hi' MrSniffles

Thank you very much for your visualization - splendid. I must experiment some more with these connections, still it's reassuring to know that you have been succesful with this. The last couple of days I've been occupied with making my Aria case cooler, which seem to have worked. But I still have a problem with an unstable 6600GT, but it seems it's an issue with the drivers and the online game I'm playing, World of Warcraft.

Cheers,
Svend
