Default Drive Stealthing

I like the way the floppy stealthing appears to work in this mod, opening out like a door, and I was wondering if anyone could help me know how it is done... is it just a peice of wire going up, through the plastic? I PMed Fantazmic2 but I'm still awaiting a reply.

I've got a panel at the bottom of my PC which you press in and it pops back out again, revealing two USB ports and a couple of audio jacks. You close it again and it latches until the next time you press it. I thought it'd be cool to try and incorporate that in a drive stealth mod. Does anyone know if this kind of mechanism has a name?

Your link wasn't working; is this rig the one you meant? Looks like it, since it has a floppy door (click the broken picture for a working pic).

I think I know the mechanism you mean; it's called a "touch latch". Push it in and it latches, push again and it releases. A local hardware or home supply store may have a selection, but a lot of them are magnetic. Here's an example of one that's not.

Yeah, that's the place I was trying to link to, and thanks for the info.
The only place I've found that has touch latches smaller than the size of my hand though, is this place but they're only wholesale manufacturer people. Maybe, I could write to their Japanese HQ, posing as a manufacturer of some sort, and requesting a sample - would I be able to get three out of them??

Specialty Supplies, Inc. sells some Sugatsune products, including what looks like the compact MC-28 for $3.35 each. Maybe models like the YL-22 are smaller; I'll let you know if I come across any.

Thanks, man. I live in England though, so I might have to forget it... I'll keep looking
