Lightbulb Expectations when drilling w/ holesaw?

Hi, I am going to drill out the stamped fan grills on the back of my case with a 76mm holesaw. I'm not sure what to expect though since this is my first mod and the first time I'll be using a hole saw. I heard I have to careful of sparks, use oil (wd40/cooking oil), and that when drilling I'm doing to have be really steady. What should I have to expect in terms of cleaning up the mess and filling rough edges? Any tips or experiences would highly be appreciated because I'm still on the edge about drilling through my new case without knowing what's going to happen although I will be practicing first on a old case of mine.

Make a center punch with your Dremel or something.

You should really be using a drill press when cutting a blow hole if at all possible. You should mask over the area you are going to cut it out of. Measure and make sure everything is perfectly how u want it. Then find the center of the hole and mark it. Use a drill bit drill the exact center out. Then lube it up a little and put the small bit inside the center of the hole saw into the hole you drilled and your ready to go. Then you can clean up the hole/burrs with sand paper or a file.

Default Steady way to cut horizontaly?

Thanks, I still don't know if I am going to put in a blow hole. But if I do does anyone know if theres any way to rig a temporary drill press if thats possible. I don't have the money to spend on one and no one I know if has one. In addition, so for the back fans I'll be cutting horizontally - is there any steady way to cut these holes?

remember, large hole saws work better at low RPM. Plus if you are cutting with a hand drill at high speeds, you will get a nice eye opener when the saw "bites" to deep and snaggs... it will twist the hell out of your wrist.

Lube and low RPM

The best way is to secure the piece you intend on working on to a table (use Vise-Grips or C-clamps) with a piece of wood under it to support the piece and to drill into (Don't want to put a hole in your table, now do yah...heh)......Tape the piece where you want to drill and just take your time and go easy.........

Depending on where it is. If its the top or a side panel you can take it off. If its the back he can empty out his comp. Then take the door off and then put it on the drill press. With the back laying on a piece of wood. Then you go through the back. Trust me it works i have done it. Although my drill press is larger than most.

Hell, I've even nailed a 2x8 on my bench and clamped the work to it and use a regular hand-drill........Gotta think outside the box sometimes........heh

Do you know if 1200 RPM will be a good speed? That is actually my drill's supposdly top speed. And the arbor I bought came with a washer, anyone know where this goes when I'm assembling the hole saw? Thanks.
