Default Blowhole on acrylic

I would use the search thing for the forums as im sure this has been asked before but it wont work for some reason. Well im a newbie at all this pc modding stuff. I got a case with an acrylic window but want to cut a blowhole in it. What would be the best way to cut it without scratching or cracking/breaking the acrylic.
Again sry if this has been asked before :/

Tape the acrilic, use a masking tape to cover the entire area, mark on the tape your hole and use a dremel on a high rpm and reinforced cutting wheels. You can also use a hole saw which are available in different sizes all over the internet if you've got access to a drill. I've used the dremel before but the important thing to note is that presure can lead to cracks, that is why you want to use a high rpm setting on whatever tool your using. By using a high rpm cutting tool you will have to push/lean into your cut less and therefore avoid cracks in your acrylic. Also with high rpm cutting cools the tool shaves instead of "drills" and this is much better for acrylic. When finished cutting and preping the blow hole remove the tape and wipe down the acrylic with a tac cloth and your favorite plastic/glass cleaning solution.

Those are AWESOME tips for thick acrylic wellmont....Such as an all acrylic case....

On thick acrylic I use a hole saw as wellmont mentioned...make sure to reinforce the panel from behind with a piece of wood or sturdy plastic. No vibration us necessary....
Also don't push to hard...

But My guess is you have a thin acrylic case window from a PREMOD case...
Those are a beast of an entire diff nature....
YOU CANT CUT THEM WITH DREMEL OR HOLESAW with very good success....
It takes a lot of advanced skill to do one of those. They usually are brittle and shatter....

For thin plastic found on premods...4 or 5 pases with a new razor blade will usually do the trick....
flip panel cut the other side...

What panel are you trying to cut?
How thick is your acrylic?

I prefer a coping saw myself. Just have to find the correct balde and practice on scrap before cutting to prevent cracks.

A dremel or jigsaw at slow speeds can cut it without melting or you can score it with a razor blade and snap it off.

check out this link: http://www.naturalhandyman.com/iip/i...nfacrylic.shtm

lots of good tips there.

for drilling holes in acrylic, use a drill bit made for acrylic for best results. since those cost (last time i checked) a lot, you can also take a normal drill bit and modify it for use with acrylic like here: http://www.plasticsmag.com/features....sue=Sep/Oct-01
