| I recently attempted to finish my window mod that i started about 2 years ago..... I bought the window cut the hole and never mounted the window. Well finally at my friends house we attemped to mount the stinking thing with this quick drying epoxy (5 min bonding, is that really quick?) well it looked nice after awhile and we let it set while we played then i returned to the side panel to mount it back on my case and BAM the window falls off. This is my Diliema. Anybody know of what kind of epoxy i should use for this window? It is Plexiglass and the case is aluminum any help would be great. | ||

| Just some double-sides sticky type stuff. Or, just use some screws. I prefer the screws, for a nice look. Plus, if you were to slap a small piece of rubber inbetween the aluminum and the plexi, you should be able to cancel out a little more noise and vibrations. I'm sure some more experienced modders would have better advice, but that's what I've got. Cheers! | ||

Just some general 3M double-sided tape would hold the plexi, as long as it's not an uber-huge and uber-thick sheet! About your comment with the screws, you should be able to drill the plexiglass without a problem!

| Or, you could use a Hand Rivet Tool (easly found at home depot, their web site just didn't want to be friendly), that's what I used to put my window on. You could then even go over to http://www.dragonmodz.net/ and buy colored rivits to match your case's theme. All you gotta do is drill a hole the same diameter as the rivit through your case side and window, use the simple hand rivit tool, and it'll never come off (unless of course you drill it back out). ![]() Last edited by Ben036; 04-August-05 at 04:42 PM.. | ||

| Hahah, no, never been to "the weed" as us hip college kids call it. My white boy dance skills just arn't cut out for it. Err..Um...Back on topic! I've also used 2 ton epoxy from walmart to hold windows. It's definently not quick dry though. I think its a 24hr cure time, but it sticks, and good. | ||

| Mounting hardware and such for windows is all dependant on the look you're going for. If you're going for rugged-type look, go with screws. If you're going for a clean look, I'd reccomend using the double-sided tape so you don't really see how it's mounted. If you're just doing a general, un-themed window, you could easilly adapt the rivets to your taste. Since they come in so many different colors, as already stated by Ben036 (dragonmodz.net). You should also check the 'mod supply store' of our very own mod guru, Bill Owen/mnpctech_guy, http://www.mnpctech.com/modsupplies.html You could pick up some of the u-channel trim molding, then rivet the window in! Cheers! | ||

Yup, in the painting section at my Walmart too. I think it was called Mounting Tape, though I've also heard it called Foam Tape (since it's thick and squishy, not like double-sided scotch tape). Found some images: ![]()

| Double sided tape is a great idea (i love the stuff). The 3m brands (and generally the brands that are available at hardware stores in general) have some sort of foam core, so they're kind of thick. If you want something that's thinner, check this link out: http://www.tools-for-woodworking.com...OD&ProdID=3862 I've used that tape to hold pieces of wood secured to faceplates (woodturning). It's uber strong and uber thin (about the same thickness as masking tape). If you're interested in it, gimme a shout. Highland Hardware is a local store, so i can pick up a roll of tape and mail it to you (saves you the shipping charge ) | ||

| I'd say that with the look of your case, I'd use the security (allen wrench) bolts. Just pick up a little kit at Lowe's, for example. It comes with a drill bit and matching threading tool. I've used them extensively on steel, aluminum, and plexi. They work great. | ||

| Mouldings a PITA. Rivets can crack the plexi. Mounting tape will leave you with a gap unless you use a moulding around the cut in front of the plexi. I'd suggest the nuts and bolts route, OR, pick up some silicone RTV caulk. Its got all the advantages of the tape without the gap, and if any squishes out onto the exposed window you can just take it off with a razor blade. Heres my window. | ||

| Dude, just use some clear silicone, it will be plenty strong. I keep some books on the plexiglass for a good seal while it cures. I messed up one time, and mounted the plexi in the wrong place... I had to take a knife and pry the plexi from the metal.... silicone will hold it pretty damn good. Double sided tape leaves an ugly gap between the metal and the plexiglass. This is what it will look like with silicone.. nice and clean. | ||
