| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hi, this is my first post, but I have been lurking for a while. I am currently modding an X-Qpack, nothing major for now, just a few simple mods. I am going to replace the stock power switch with a Bulgin Vandal Resistant Switch (lighted). I was also going to do a switch on the 3.5" bay or 5" bay to control the CCFLs. Does anyone know how big the military flip switches are? Also, Anyone know how to remove the front panel of an X-Qpack? Thanks. Matt | |

I agree there stuff is top notch and shipping is dirt cheap. My last order for rivets and dragon spikes cost $2.67 to ship. Sure beats the $10 shipping from Frozencpu. EDIT: here is the link to the switches: http://www.dragonmodz.net/index.php?cPath=23

Not to be blunt or anything but that's a pretty closed way of looking at it...you have to factor in shipping cost, reseller ratings, and quality of shipment. If you've purchased anything from an online computer parts retailer then you should know that ANYONE can do it...but it takes someone with responsability and care to do it correctly. cheapest might be where you want to end up, but it's certainly not where you start especially when modding a case. edit: ohh and yeah, just thought i'd mention that powerswitches on computers are "momentary" switches, better not replace it with a switch like the flip switches pictured above without some kind of intermediary controller.

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Does anyone know where DragonModz is based out of? I have checked out their site and did enjoy their how to guides, and their prices did seem in line with others. I don't mean to be closed minded or anything, it's just that price matters (moneys tight) and by price I mean total price (cost of items+shipping). Matt | |

| Eau Claire, WI I believe. You can PM Lokie since he owns Dragon modz. They will be the cheapest by far once shipping is included. As for the momentary switch you just flip it up then down to turn on the computer. As long as you can flip it up and down in less then 4 seconds you will be fine. If you can't do it in less then 4 seconds I think you have bigger problems. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Ok finsished the mod for now. Installed Bulgin Vandal resistant switch, wired in series with the power LED (should have replaced it with a blue one, put that on the list for next time) , Added 2 blue 4inch CCFLs, and wired a switch on the front 3.5" panel to control them. ![]() Last edited by Matt; 17-July-05 at 06:33 PM.. | |
