| Apex Techie Wannabe | This is my first case Mod and it was a lot of fun working on it. It is not as grand as some but I like how it came out and want to share it with everyone. Will be modding more HD's. Heat sink lapping, painting or lighting cooler. More wire management. ffice ffice" />Mod Pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Case: RAIDMAX Scorpio-668 BLACK Mobo: ffice:smarttags" /> CPU: AMD AthlonXP 2700+ Cooler: CoolerMaster Aero 7+ Ram: Vid: BFG GeForce™ 6800 OC Sound: Sound Blaster® Audigy® 2 ZS Speakers: Logitech Z640 6-piece 5.1 Speaker System HDD: MAXTOR Windowed HDD MAXTOR 6.4GB 1 80.0GB EIDE 7200RPM, UATA-133 HDD 1 200GB EIDE 7200RPM, UATA-133 HDD DVD: Lite-On 16X DVD-ROM Burner: Sony Dru-510A DVD-RW/CD-RW PSU: Aspire 550W Chameleon Aluminum | |

| HD=PIMP Stickers=Gimp That makes three of us, I think we just voted to "Un-Mod" part of your PC I am curiuos to see what you can get from your 2700+, it was not popular with the Overclocking crowd, I would guess somewhere between 2.3-2.4ghz, as long as the rest of the hardware is up to it. | ||

| Great job on your first mod....I'll also endorse that you had great placement on the hard drive. However, like everyone else, I think that it would look a lot better without the stickers. I would venture to guess the reason why a lot of people here in these forums dislike the stickers is that we "mod" our cases to be ours, to be a part of us, a reflection of the soul minus the tattoo, or whatever saying you want to toss in here. By placing stickers on the case, it takes away from the individuality of the project and turns it into more of a commercial product...a billboard, if you will, for companies. However, that being said, if you like it then be happy with it, by all means. It's your case to do with as you wish. Oh, and don't listen to $Solid$...he tries to overclock anything and everything he can get his hands onto. Hell, I'd be afraid to let him work on my car for fear that I might get arrested for illegal possession of a nuclear material that he tried to hardwire into it. Think of $Solid$ as PimpRig's Time "The Tool Man" Taylor. Be wary of anything he works on. Rob | ||

can you just drill holes and put plexy in place of the metal? if so, that would make my life a lot easier ( i have a WD 80 gig caviar.... would i just remove the cover and drill the holes and everything and place the plexi on it?)

Josh, the HD mod is simple, I've heard. You just remove the two pieces of the enclosure, put the half containing the internals in a Ziploc bag (quickly, for the dust factor) and then cut your hole in the top half. If you're doing this for a functional mod, something you're going to use, I'd reccomend a lot of screws/rivets in order to prevent ANY dust from getting in. As for the mod, I'm digging it. The hard drive placement is UBER and lovin' the window on it. Also nice wire management and whatnot. It's got quite a bit of potential! You just lose some points with me, the same as the others, for those Nascar-esque stickers, heh. Still sweet, though! MOD ON!

i dont want to cut any holes... im talking i JUST want to have the plexi, i was wondering if it would be possible to just put a piece of plexi over it... or would i have to custom make it to work the way i want it?

Let me see if I get this right: you want to completely remove all the metal casing? If you do want to do this, it'd be a little difficult. Could probably be done, but would be dangerous (the risk of jarring the internals, etc.). If you wanted to this a very simple way, just remove the top shell, then cut a square, just leaving about 1/4" on the left, right, top, and bottom. Then, just fill in the center with plexi.
