* Two 12" blue cold cathode kits
* 3 clear case fans with blue LEDs
* Platimum XP case w/window and built in temp gauge on front bezel which I am going to mod to provide case interior temp and will add a window on the top.
* 20 "Super Bright" blue LEDs in case I need the additional glow

Existing hardware that will make its way over to the new case

* Acer 52x DVD player
* Creative 12x10x32 burner

A big part of modding is creativity, look at the case gallery, get some ideas, then go for something. The more extreme the better (but that depends on how into it you want to get)

What do YOU want it to look like???? My best recommendation, look throught the case gallary, get a little insparation, and do something origanal something no one else has done. You will appreciate you rig alot more if its something original instead of some Carbon copy .

Tell us what you want to do with the case, its your computer after all. someones not going to do the work for you.

Ok if i told you that i wanted it green with yellow poka dots, would you do it?,

will you quit reposting the same god damned thread!, i think we get your point already, all i am saying is that their are plenty of places to get inspiration. Look through the 20 or 30 pages of the case gallary, tell us what you want on your case

Default Wasn't trying to upset anyone....

Okay, no more Ctrl-v's.......

I did go through the gallery and got some ideas but everyone mostly bagged on the submissions. Not that I am looking for acceptance or anything. I just want to do things right. I saw a case where all the wires were routed to where they weren't readily visable and I liked the way it looked. How is that done? Do I cut and splice more wire so the extra length will allow it to be hidden behind the mainboard or is it routed up and along the edge of the case so it is not readily seen?

That kind of advice...not so much as what mods to do but moreover, how the "high scoring" mods were done for a cleaner final result.

scores dont mean **** iceman, what some people think looks good, many people think looks like ****. just ask Coelcanth and ViperZ , Its what you like that matters.

As for hiding the wires, get some wire wrap or you can also use heat shrink to get your electrical looking cleaner, i wouldnt splice any of the power supply wires unless you rearlly know what you are doing, and from your post it sound like you dont

Talking Okay....some of my ideas

* Hide whatever wiring I can
* Use heatshrink wrap on the power cables for the drives, fans, etc that I can't
* Add window and fan on case door
* Add window and blow hole with fan on top of case.
* Add a glow effect to the floppy disk slot
* Maybe drill out and have blue light glowing from those dimples in the unused drive slots on the front bezel
* Try to add Indiglow backlight to the digital temp gauge on the front
*Stealth out the drives
* Maybe add some of those "feet" that the high end home audio components have.
* Change out the LEDs on all the drives to blue as well

I would start here for alot of intro how to's.

Cabling is an art form. Everyone does it differently. I used many strategies:

1. greatly lengthened many wires so they could go behind mobo
tray.

2. ran alot of stuff behind the front bezel

3. used adhesive plastic clippy things to hold wires where I wanted 'em

4. bundled wires neatly in spiral wrap

5. put extra psu wires in project box in empty drive bay

6. rounded and wrapped all IDE & floppy cables

7. built a fanbus so all fans and lights could have one point of contact

8. made a custom power cable that conects all of my systems electronics (except mobo and HDD) to external psu outside the case

So, you see your simple questions do not have simple answers! You are not going to learn all this material in one night!

You will not make any friends posting the way you have started out!

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but not your approach.

Now, no more questions tonight.....you are giving me a headache!

windows are cool, been done, but still cool, make it an intresting cut heres a good example of a unique and un-square cut, from the gallery

Stealth out the drives

Correct me if im wrong, but arent the top two drives on the Platinum Xp already pre-stealthed?

Quite true putwig, did you know that Voodoo Computers actually hired a Origami Expert to design their wiring layout? And if youve seen the insides of one of those they have the best wiring i have ever seen.

Default Thank you for your patience and advice

putwig.....

Sorry about the headache.

I don't quite understand about a PSU outside....for the lights and accessories?

Scapegoat.....

I am not sure if the drives are already stealthed. It was not listed in the description on the site where I ordered it from.
One site even showed a close up of the digital gauge in the chrome ring on the front and the other site did not even mention it. It is hard buying stuff online sometimes.

You guys would be amazed at some of the prices I got for this stuff!!
I may not be a modder yet but I sure can find a deal...Examples

XP Case....$45
Blue LED case fans...$3.50
Rounded copper IDE cables....$5.50 each

just to name a few and all new...not eBay or sloppy seconds..

my baybus (fans and lights) two cd drives, and one floppy drive...all share a custom made power cable that exits the case behind the mobo and hooks to a single molex connector on an external psu.

the only things running on the internal psu are the mobo and the HDD.

Scapegoat - I did know about voodoo and the oragami. Cool stuff!

Default Because.....

I felt it would get a broader amount of feedback.......kinda like when you are doing market research for a global product. You don't go to only Watchooga, Tennesee and ask one hick in the hills if he thinks he'd be interested in a Johnson bar if it was for sale in his local Macy's Department store 500 miles away......

I didn't know it was wrong at the time and messed up. live and learn.....

Dumba$$,

You didn't even ask any questions! You just posted a list of your new system specs......and basically said "do my thinking for me and give me some ideas"

I strongly suggest you not go flippin off at the forum moderator on your first Feckin night!!!

Scape and I have been trying to teach you despite the supreme idiocy of your posts to date...and now you are getting lippy with the Goat?

Grab a brain Dipsheit!

There are alot of people here with alot of knowledge, try not to piss us all off on the first night!

Edit: I was not "backing you up" I was joking with Duck!

Edit: Scape - you must out-type me! you are one step ahead with every post!

Your the one who needs to just sit back and relax, read the tuturials, if you have question, feel free to post. If you know anything, contribute. But dont F*cking come in here like you own the joint and post on 4 freaking threads with the same damn shiat. Anyone with 1/4 of a brain should know better than that.
