Default El Wire Idea's?

Well ive recieved my Chenming 602a case which is black and i thought that it needed a little touch to i was thinking that i would put el wire behind the front bezel of my case ( the part with the door) http://reviews.pcapex.com/cases/imag...602a-front.jpg The bezel comes off pretty easy and i test wired some 18 gauge wire behind it and it fit extremely well. while also playing around with the wire i was thinking of a place to put the inverter and then it hit me (FLOPPY DRIVES DUH!) which happen to be nicely situated next to the door (see the pic) http://reviews.pcapex.com/cases/imag...-floppyout.jpg I thought this would be a pretty sweet mod cuz it will leave a nice light blue hue behind my front bezel (tell me what you think.) also how flexible is el wire? can it be bent so it goes around corners or will it break? Plus if you have any other ideas gimme any other ideas

http://reviews.pcapex.com/cases/imag...-moneyshot.jpg heres my case again

You could see if the wire will go behind the door.....Making a outline of the front piece.

I have some blue el wire left over from my last installation of many lights inside my pc. I can' t really decide what to do with it tho.

Few ideas I've had:

Run it around the edge of my window to give it a glow. Problem would be how to fix it (I'm speaking about inside the case)

Wrapping it around my ram (ram has blue heat spreaders). Problem would be temp complications.

hit a bit of a wall now tbh.

Some notes on EL wire:
  • EL wire is pretty flexible. I don't know what the exact bend radius is, but you could wrap it around a pencil. The problem with tight bends usually is holding it in place.
  • It doesn't give off a lot of light. Which'll make it nice for a soft glow, but not for shining rays of light through your front grille or lighting up the inside of a case. Works well for direct-view applications, since it's not blinding.
  • It makes a high-pitched whine when lit. IMO, it's pretty noticeable, unless you have a couple Tornadoes going.
  • Yes, you can cut EL wire to length, but you'll wanna cap the end with tiny heatshrink or something insulated.
  • It runs cool to the touch, if you care.
  • It has a fast reaction time, so it'd work if hooked up to a control circuit like a sound sensor.

Hope that helps!

I'll bear that in mind for the future, since then I had a thought about routing it around the unused holes for drive mounting. It doesn't look bad. Thing is you make aload of layers ur happy with and then find you have extra el wire to find a place for. Can you cut el wire?

now i know you said it isnt that bright, but will it give off enough light so that you can see blue color. but not see the wire itself kinda like a recessed light?

not over much distance unless you're talking about looking directly into the recess.
