| Hi All, I'm a n00b to the forum and to modding And need some opinions on the modz. I'm getting an acrylic case on friday and need to get some moddin action! I'm hoping to: convert front 80mm blohole to a 120mm, add biohazard applique, get some cool new power & reset buttons and mount them, add LED flashing panel to empty drive bay cover, add 4 CCFLs & Stealth the drives, somehow lol! any feedback is greatly appreciated! thanx, Charl3s. BTW i got all hardware sorted.Last edited by charl3s_fatal1ty; 13-April-05 at 05:36 AM.. Reason: L337 717|_3 - sorry, just had to use leet there! | ||

on acrylic just watch when ur cutting it so u dont crack it at all let the blade do the work and when your done take either a small pencil torch or a lighter and clean up the edges it works great... i have an acrylic backing on my case that i modded and it looks damn good u can also melt a chunk of it and create an amazing glue with it...

| If you want to see some original stuff, check out www.dragonmodz.net. They have some new stuff that looks pretty sweet. For starters, I could see the red aircraft switch on the front. | ||

| that website is lookin alot better ![]() it terms of the biohazard, sure we see it alot, but for those of whom arent modders, its prolly not that common, hey, its not a common as the dell logo, now thats overused, i say if you like it, use it, its your case. from the sounds of it you're not trying to bee the most origional kid on the block, so who cares my only sugestion is that CCs always seem to overwhelm the eyes in an acrylic case unless you find a good place to stash em, and generally there isnt. i'd sugest some sort of LED array or something that wont hurt your eyes and distract you from the rest of the case | ||

even black cathodes can be to too bright, but it depnds, might be fine. either way you still have 2 more cathoes (and thanks on the sig, its from the great deiselsweeties.com my only fear is that it will eventually no longer sound ridiculous)

| The most important thing with clear cases is this: they not only reveal what's GOOD inside the case, they also reveal all the BAD. Make sure you spend a lot of time planning a neat and tidy interior, perhaps sheathing your PSU cabling, and definitely don't overlook wire management. Your whole case ends up being a window, so make sure the inside is tight. | ||

| I got 2x LED tubes with 7 alternating colours instead of the other 2 CCFLs. I hope to get the Aeropower Aerocool II+ PSU which is pre-sleeved with UV reactive sleeving and molexes and other pre-mods. I got some UV reactive Cable ties which i'll replace with uv sleeving soon. so this thing is gonna GLOW like crazy! lol | ||

2 UV cathodes should easily illuminate a full tower case worth of components, if they're positioned in such a way as to hit them all. Make sure to mount them so light will go above any installed PCI/AGP cards or other obstructions, and make sure you clean up all your wiring so that there isn't anything blocking the UV light. You can also buy some UV LEDs if you want to hit specific areas that the cathode light doesn't reach.

oh yeah two cathodes will light it up really well. what i'm doing with my party box is one red cathode and 5 red fans, though just the original three fans lite it up beyond belief. which is an idea for you to use uv fans insted of cathods, the light is softer than the light from cathodes. dont get me wrong at a dark lan three fans and one cathode light it up beyond beleif. someone (sorry i forgot who) brought up a good point, how are you planning to hide the wiring in this case? as a fellow acrilic case owner i'm really looking for some good ideas. currently i'm using a floor tube and a bay box right now (they work well because they are black and my case is a smoked case) but it is still a little messy for my tastes.

| the best wire management jobs i've seen in acrylic cases employ a good amount of sleeving, and some of them employ cable boxes used to join multiple wire up into one sleeve for the majority of their travels, however its neigh impossible to hide your wiring in an an acrylic case. i think what usually looks best is when it is sleeved and cut at just the right length, which can be a paint to do just right. you can even take this to the extreme like g-gnome did in the infamous orac3 | ||
