| Ok, this laptop is a Dell Latitude c640 1.8ghz p4m, 512mb ram,30gig hdd,14.1 display, internal wireless etc..... It was originally plain black, some of the pics show the original color, but I really didn't take 'original' shots, I thinkmost people know what a laptop looks like..... I used Rust-Oleum products on it, Plastic Primer, a 'Rust' effect kit (which looks more like Burlwood), and a clear/hard top coat. I also used a silver and red paint marker for the details...... and a red Sharpie to color the 'latitude' letters in.... I used GE Silicone 2 clear caulk to fill in the dragons.... so not only is it guaranteed not to shrink, but it is mildew resistant too , I went with the non-shrinking properties.......... I used a Chrome pipe cap for the case badge, which I dremeled the japanese character for dragon into.... I rough sanded it, to give it a hammered/antique look... Here is the 'worklog' I'm not going into detail, it is pretty much self-explanatory... created a template on computer, transferred to card stock paper, cut out with xacto knife... Plastic Primer applied.... 3coats if I remember correctly, sanding in between... next base coat is applied... then the 'effect' coat, which is actually a 'wash' which is dabbed off with paper towel... And for the Final Pics....... the bottom... some people mentioned they could see the 'orangepeel' effect on it, but I did not go for a perfectly smooth finish, I wanted some texture on it, wood is not perfectly smooth....... yep I know, the dragons are NOT PERFECT... what in life is? I think I spent a total of 14 hours just getting them to look like that......... and you really cannot see well in the pictures, but the lcd gives off a blue light, and with the silicone caulk it gives the effect of water.... I re-did the drive/battery later to match the case.. no pics..... Sorry about the glare but the mouse button are red actually.... and yes I went for the uneven look on the masking, kind of a ripped out look... Three final coats of clear/hard coat were applied..... it took about 1 1/2 weeks to finish... the hardest part was taking apart and putting back together, and then, shaving the batter/cd , because the layers of paint maded them stick in the bays.... The leds were also, red, white and blue.......... All in all I'm happy with it... but it is now gone.........................sold................. .................... financial problems... DONE............... Can't wait to get my next laptop!!!!! | ||

| Actually I am showing the ones I have pics of... When we bought and moved into my present home some stuff was lost/thrown out by mistake..... and pics were in some of it... My first mod was a Compaq Presario, those funky looking ones with that wider than the case front.. I took the side panel off and replaced in with plexi, to make a door, I put brass hinges on the bottom, so the door opened Down.. and put a Brass clip lock on the top..... I also spray painted, with stencil I made ,a 'Bone' Dragon in the center of the window and used a black sharpie to make the glass have a spider web/broken effect from the dragon, and put two small fans in the side of the window as well... I wish I still had the pics, every once in a while I will go looking through boxes thinking that maybe they just got put somewhere else..... but I can say it was very difficult for a first time modder project.. most first timers do a blow hole or something.... My second was an artistic case.... put a side window in it, one of those kits with gasket, put blow hole in the top, and then procceeded to use a black sharpie on the entire case, to form a broken glass pattern, I then hand painted each space a differnet color, to get a stained glass look.... Very colorful case.. as I said artictic looking... | ||

| Well It took me approx 2 weeks to get the laptop done.. and that was working many hours each day.. the dragons themselves took me about 12 hours total to get them to that point..... as for my old pics no... I didn't have a digi camera then.... this was about 4 years ago.... so they wear 'old fashinoed' 35mm pics.... | ||
