Momentumfire Serial to parallel LCD

lists a cheap serial to parallel LCD converter. has anyone used this? does it work with LCD smartie? it's quite a bit cheaper than other serial/parallel LCD converters.

you know..Ive thought about doing that for a while..It should work with LCD smartie since it does support serial LCD screens too..

dammit..I want that schematic..

if you have an un used parallel port you dont really need the converter for a parallel LCD. if you go through all the trouble hooking that up its easier to wire a parallel LCD to a parallel cable than to a PCB (unless you skip that too and go with the flying leads method) and the n to the LCD. but if you really want serial as long as the converter is designed for the application they are mostly the same.

I already have an LCD hooked up to my parallel port. I want to have this one external my pc so a nice serial connection would be easiest. Other serial backpacks that I've looked into were around $25 plus shipping. This one looks pretty inexpensive.

I'll get one and let everyone know how it works out.
