Those must have been the really High-RPM fans that can burn out. Are you sure you weren't constantly running under load? Sunon is good.

| Regarding that Sunon fan that was linked above... I don't even CONSIDER a fan if it doesn't have ball bearings. If I see a fan that has sleeve bearings, or it isn't indicated anywhere on the fan (which probably means it has sleeve bearings, heh), I won't bother. They wear out much faster, and they're louder...and MUCH louder when those sleeve bushings start wearing out. Reminds me of my teen days when I was seriously into R/C dune buggy racing...the cheap kits all had sleeve bearings (you were lucky if they were upgradeable to ball bearings later), and the good, competitive kits all had ball bearings for moving parts (wheels, driveshafts, motor shafts, etc.). If you can keep the dirt out, ball bearings will last a very long time. | ||

To be honest I would stay away from them. They were 50mm 6000rpm ball bearinged fans and all that my sony was running was a 550mhz K6-2+ Mobile. Fried the chip both times when they failed. THe only sunon I have bought since then is actually a Vantec Tornado (which is a rebranded sunon), and i've already been through 2 in a year in a half. They really are crappy fans, and they are ****ing obnoxiously loud. Oh and our pingpong table has a 120V sunon fan and that makes horrid sounds when its on too. Highly recommend staying away from them.

| Yea thanks for the input guys, but im really lookin for quiet before the CFM rating. Because Db are logrithmic everytime you go up one Db its 10 times louder, kinda like Earthquake Richter Scale. So if it could be in the low 20's for Db thatd be great CFM can be +/- 5 or so. They dont have to be LED but if they are green please. Thanks again, and keep up the good work, im serching around newegg, tigerdirect and a pricewatch for some. BTW why does your ping pong table need a fan??? | ||

I've never heard of a rifle bearing, sounds like a sleeve to me. Always go for ball bearing fans if you can.

| well here is a link for the coolermaster fan i have: http://www.frozencpu.com/fan-125.html its quite and moves a good amount of air doing it. Sniff EDIT: for a bit more info http://www.coolermaster.com/index.ph...0Fan%2080x80mm http://www.coolermaster.com/index.ph...-EW+Neon%20LED Last edited by MrSniffles; 12-March-05 at 05:52 PM.. | ||

| I checked the stats on those Coolermaster fans. According to their documentation, the sleeve bearing fans have a 30,000 hr. life expectancy, the rifle bearing is 50K, and their ball bearing fans 70K. So I guess a rifle bearing is better than the typical "cheapie" sleeve bearing but still not as good as dual ball bearings. | ||
