![]() | wusaaaaap pimps i have put together some$ and i was thinking of bulding a cool pc and the 1st thing i wanna get is my case so if you could help me find a good case that be great here are the qualities im looking for: 1.) a case thats for gaming but yet not too of a gamer player (like very mature looking) 2.) i want something very quiet so if i leave it over night it wouldnt be so load that i can't sleep 3.) cool looking i want something very cool that realy wows me(side window is not necesary) 4.) if you guys think a i should get one with a window then please think about how i can hide my wires (i hate looking into my case and seeing all kinds of small wires around) - it would be better if it comes with a good psu (400 w +) - money is not a big issue if i realy like the case keep in mind that i have seen almost all the cases at newegg.com but i might have missed something so if you have something in mind feel free to point it out. thx everyone |

| Apex Tech Fanatic Supreme | ok, here is some pointers, try not to pick a no name case, with no good reveiws, they tend to be made of really thin steel, and dont have good airflow. PSU that come with some cases are sometimes really cheep and burn out in a month. but yet again just look for reveiws, and see what people say. if you was a really matyre look i would say go for a lian li case, they are expensive, but they are of the best quality aluminum, and also are designed to have good airflow in mind. i dont think they come with psu's so u would hve to buy one. if you did get one with a window, then get a sleeved psu, and a bunch of zip ties. i wont go into details of hiding you wires, because it is explained in depth in the fourms, just search for em. i hope this helps, |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | These may seem a tad spendy, but when you consider what was done with them to improve airflow, sound, and looks.... it isn't really all that much. Especially if you are already to spend what you would for a Lian Li case. The cases are at the top of the page. http://www.mnpctech.com/modsupplies.html |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey traktor, Oh boy....this is one of the most common questions, and it's a tough one as it really depends on your own personal tastes. All I can do is give you some things that I personally look for in a case, for myself or for a client. First up, gear: How much gear are you planning to fit into it? For some a smaller mid-tower case is plenty. A couple opticals, a couple HDDs and that's all you'd ever need. If you're planning on adding watercooling or a lot of additional gear in the future, you may want a larger mid to full tower. Materials: What is your preference in materials? I personally like aluminum cases, but they are more expensive and can be harder to paint if they're anodized. Scratching is also an issue with any case, so take your pick of scratched paint or scratched aluminum. Color: I would personally stay away from black cases. They're like black cars in that yeah, at first they look sexy but really take a lot of work to keep them that way. Silver or other light colors are great unless dust is just not an issue for you. Cooling: Some say that aluminum cases cool better, but my experience has taught that airflow configuration and lack of restriction are far more important. Look at cases with 120mm fan mounts for the best compromise between fan power and noise. Also look at how well air can enter and exit the case. A bezel that only has a small intake slot in the bottom will severely hamper cooling performance. More efficient airflow equals less noise. Power Supply: There are only a few manufacturers of cases whose bundled power supplies I would trust. They are Antec, Enermax and ThermalTake, but as you said, only one with a 400W+ rating, as I wouldn't reccommend anything less. If possible, go bigger than that. Today's top videocards require a minimum of 470W, and since we are talking about a fully electrical device here, invest in a quality PSU. It is the foundation of everything that you put inside your rig, and buying one that supplies clean reliable power will prevent a LOT of problems when you add more hardware in the future. Often you will have to buy this separately...and it's worth it if you get what you really need. Window: If you find a window you like, it is typically cheaper to buy a case with one already installed rather than doing it yourself. If you're looking to set your rig apart and make it unique, definitely cut your own as it isn't THAT much more expensive, and modding is hella fun. Budget: If your goal is modding, look to less expensive cases that you can practice your first few mods on. There is certainly a threshhold beneath which cases just aren't worthwhile. In my experience, this is around $50 for a case with no PSU. Be willing to accept misaligned panels, flimsy metal and plastic, and an overall cheezy look to cases below $50. All that said, I would suggest checking out these: ANTEC Performance Plus "PlusView1000AMG" ANTEC ALUMINUM SUPER LAN BOY ANTEC "SONATA" ANTEC Model "P-160WF" CHENBRO Model "PC61566-SL-W" Cooler Master Centurion 5 COOLER MASTER Cavalier 3 Cooler Master WaveMaster Model "TAC-T01-EB" Lian-Li Model "PC-65" Lian-Li Model "PC-V1000" Thermaltake XaserV Series Model "V7000+" Thermaltake SOPRANO VB1000SNS Thermaltake SHARK Model "VA7000SWA" Take a look and tell us what you like, what you'd still like to see and what your plans are.

![]() | thx everyone for ur replaies. thx to word biker for the big reply lol.. it was very use full to me. infact as i was reading i got new ideas and i agree with u on the color thing, i already have a black case and it is hard to keep it sexy looking plus im not thinking of getting another black anyways and alot of cases have different colors so as long as it has good performance the color is not an issue. and about psu, i love antec psu's but there is something about theyr designs of their cases that i dont like and i have seen all the Tt cases , curect me if im wrong but Tt cases seems that they dont have good quality made cases although the designs are nice. i realy like Lian-Li Model "PC-V1000" its cool and i like that whole upsidedown think lol. but from the outside its seems a lil foreign to me. and oh yea im not realy looking to mod the case but still im looking for a uniuqe case, i like the Cooler Master WaveMaster but it looks too common i would perfer a more hard 2 find design. if there isn't a psu with the case it doesnt realy matter and probably get another one later. there is onething i 4got to tell u guys and its i want the case to kinda match my monitor. here is a link to see wat it looks like. i would realy perfer one that goes with my monitor. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...lLCDs_17%22LCD thx for replies again everyone |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Take a closer look at the TT Shark. Our Lokie has one, and he says it's sweet inside and out, with lots of good features and built with quality. I think it complements that Sony monitor nicely. ![]() EDIT: And better yet, it's on sale for $40 off. Nice case for $120.

| Eleven-Bravo Sitrep Writer | Don't get me wrong, the LL cases are the top of the heap to me (so much so I bought two), but I've had Tt cases, and they're not that bad, truth be told. Heck, right now I'm lusting after a Tt Armor case, I like the way it looks, but I'm not about to plunk down the Benjamins on a case *just* for its looks... It has to have a + rep behind it as well... Other cases you might consider, that I would say fall into the "Mature/Professional" look, and have a good record: SilverStone Temjin SST-TJ05 : Twin 120 fans, nice look, decent price... Coolermaster Cavalier: Nice and clean lines, not too heavy on the wallet... Coolermaster Praetorian: Simple, efficient. 'Nuff said... Kingwin KT-424-BK-WM: Loads of modding potential. Go for the plain side panel if you wanna cut your own... Hope that gives you some more options/ideas. Good luck with the mod, and put up a project thread when you're ready to get started.

![]() | Hey, Im just like you in tastes of cases, I like mine to be cool looking but not really something that looks like a "toy". I would maybe suggest looking at the Thermaltake Circle case, its flashy but I havent really heard how good of a job it does with keeping the case cool. I would also take a look at the Coolermaster Wavemaster which was my second choice. The Antec Silver Aluminum performance 1 case also looks very sophisticated. As for a window, I think it adds a lot . Plus you can show it off to people who dont have a clue about computers and they will be amazed, kind of funny. About the cables if you have the money there is the X-connect power supply and the Antec Neo power that allow you to only hook up the cables you need which makes the case less messy. If you do get a window add cathode lighting. |
