Processor Fan Mods

Is it a bad Idea to modify the prosessor fan? I would like to chrome it and put four leds on the screws in the corner of it. Will this mess up the RPMs? Will it create too much heat? Or will the fan compensate for the extra heat? Advise?

Why not just buy some Krylon "Original Chrome" spray paint and give it a thin coat? I found it made it quite metallic and shiny, pretty close to chrome, and as long as you spray from a foot away in a thin coat, you won't get paint dripping. Worked for me and ViperZ, anyway.
