well, i dont klnow what constitutes a "good" source as far as titanium goes, but i have seen it listed here at the McMaster-Carr Supply Company website under raw materials/metals.

tons of stuff on that site, but i have never ordereed from them so I don't know how they are customer-service wise or what-not.

EDIT - BTW, Lexan and Acrylic are both there also, under raw materials/termoplastics available in rods, hollow rods, balls and disks as well as sheets for the more creative people They have tons of stuff. check it out if you have time to waste, even if just to waste the time and "Windows" shop

how would one go about welding titanium? TIG, MIG, Oxy-Acetalene torch?

or would pop-rivets do the trick?

damn.. i forget now, but i think it might need a TOIG. usually all that is on that sit also under "catalogue pages" but some reason none of the Ti entries have any info. Pop rivets shoudl work too i would think, if you can get the holes drilled first I don't know why it would be a problem at all.

yeah man, that site has everything. check out the section for door handels or hinges.. tons of ideas in those. But, like i said, i have never ordered form them so i can't vouch for the customer service side of it.. helluva selection though if you go to their main site.

and no, i dunno anywhere else that has pexi tubes. sorry.

EDIT -- maybe get a block of it also and make an adaptor? round off the block and make it funnel shaped and drill a hole through the center??

Yup, any of those...

From http://www.stainless-steel-world.net:
"Most titanium alloys can be fusion welded and all alloys can be joined by solid state processes. Unfortunately some engineers still believe titanium is difficult to weld, possibly due to its particular requirements for argon or helium gas shielding, or because in the past it has normally been handled only by specialist fabricators. Titanium is actually easier to weld than many metallurgically more complex metals and alloys".

maybe we should get this, or a similar thread, made into a sticky. online modding materials or something like that, but only raw material stuff since CCs and kits and the like are in the bussiness links usually...

check the phone book for masonry suppies. and about the titanium how would you cut it? you need to find a place to laser, mill, or fluid cut it. unless you spend hours on the dremel

Seriously though, a mATX case built from titanium would be super strong and super light. I have access to the necessary equipment now to get that done, just need the raw materials. :-)
