| Apex Techie Lite | Isn't it weird how you can actively pursue something, but it's when you're sitting back, doing nothing and almost on the point of despair when that thing comes to you? Anyway, I finally got a case to mod... it kind of walked right into my hands. It's an old Gateway tower, from some Pentium II model. The problem I most need suggestions for is that I would like to cut a 120mm intake into the front bezel, but as you can see, the bezel has strange... formations... in the lower area. Any ideas as to what to do there? Other planned mods include a custom window, perhaps in the attached design (yes, I know, that will be hard) or maybe in a larger window that would allow for more interior viewing, with that or another design etched in. I have a power button plan... a really old case of mine has a nice power button I think I can steal. It's big and oval, and has the word "POWER" engraved in it. I think it would be really cool to drill the lettering out and backlight it to my HD activity. Also, colors... I plan to do the outside in either silver or, more likely, glossy white, and the inside will be as orange as I can make it (paint, cc's, uv stuff, etc.) Any suggestions, any thoughts are appreciated. Finally I'm actually going to be able to mess around with this stuff. | |

| Etiquette & English Gentleman | Strange formations, eh zxanwulf? I'm not sure they're really a problem - ping the front panel off, cut the size hole you want, cut/file a bevel on the remaining little holes, a bit of fibreglass from behind, car body filler from the front, and bob's yer uncle .... I did some fillery like that on my last rig (http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread....&threadid=9649) ![]() Edit - re the window, I'd go with what you've got there - windows that expose everything in the case are old hat IMO ... trust me, small is going to be really big ![]() Edit 2 - I don't think it'd be that hard to cut, I had a quick shufty & reckon it's 18 jigsaw cuts (+ filing/dremelling to finish) + 8 bits of delicate filing (or dremelling) = 5-6 hours work.
