| Hello to eveyone as this is my first post here. I've got a lan coming up in July and I want to have a new case for it. I took first in the case mod competition last year with my first attempt at ever modding a case here are some quick pics of it (saddly these are the best pics i have right now) ![]() ![]() It was my first time ever using a dremel but i got the top and bottom window in place with it, along with the scratches I did on the front. The VI on the fan grills is he logo I made for our CS clan some years back (Village Idiots) Thats all well and good but I got this bug in my head with this new case I'm trying to do. I'm trying to make an antique clock. Almost like a a miniture grandfather clock. Two cdroms in the base hidden by a wooden flap. above them would be the main part of a clock with the door (door has a window in it of course) In this part I would have the motherboard laying down with audio/ps2/agp/pci slots facing the back of the clock. 2 80mm fans on each side blowing across the mobo. mounted on the sides above the fans are the harddrives (one on each side) Above the section with door is where he actual clock face will be. The PSU will be behind this clock face. The drawings I had for this went through the wash, so I need to redraw them. I'm a poor artist but my friend here can get the idea and he's gonna help me with demetions as soon as i cut up the old case. I'm going to use the base peice that hold the Mobo (so i have something to screw it into.) and Use part of the back peice that has places to screw in the agp and pic cards as well as audio/video/pst2/etc I'll see if I can do some crude drawings so people can atleast get an idea. This is is still in the early stages and I don't know what problems might be caused by using a wooden housing rather than a metal one. any general input will be helpfull. | wow...and a very merry warm welcome to Pimprig. The mod you speak of is certainly an unknown and hasnt been tried as far as I dare to go. Retro mods seem to be going into the upstate area, the nearest things I've seen to that is a cigar holder for an ITX platform. Still I wish you all the best. You'll have no problem counting your work hours on this one....it'll stare you in the face! Good luck and Welcome once more - oh yeh and get folding! Now! | ||

| Hmmm upstate...I'm in GA...but oh well. The general idea is it looks like a clock (more or less) when off...but I plan to put some cathods in side that I can turn on when it's running *edit and at the risk of looking stupid...what is folding Last edited by Slaphappy; 26-November-04 at 02:26 PM.. | ||

| For information on Folding, check out http://team.pcapex.com. Your first case mod looks awesome...very original... Your planned case mod is very intriguing...I hope it turns out as well as your first! The only thing I would change in your plans is the fans...make them 120mm instead of 80mm...they'll get better airflow, and they'll be quieter. Best of luck, and let us know what we can do to help! Welcome to PR | ||

| I thought about doing 120's but the probem is finding "good" 120mm fans. 80mm is kinda the standard and so everyone makes fans that size. I've got 9 (11 including psu) 80mm fans in my case right now with 1 120mm and the 120 drowns out all the others if I crank up the speed on it. So I'm thinking about getting a few of these fans Last edited by Slaphappy; 26-November-04 at 08:52 PM.. | ||

| What can I say it's been awhile. Frag Fest is come and gone for this year. And I has a sexy new case to sport. Saddly there are little to no pics of the case being built. One guy has a few if I can track him down. However there are plenty of the finshed case....so for your enjoyment check out my new baby Me (left) and my friend Louis (right) who helped me with most of the wood working. Having no tools of my own this one got built in his garage. ![]() and Here is a closer look at just the case...I'll get more of the case open and sides and what not...just have to find a digital camara. These pics were taken my someone at Frag Fest and sent to me. The yellow paper by the case is a note saying that, yes the case was built from scratch. ![]() | ||

| oh case stands 3 feet tall. Still has a few things that need to be done to it. I'm gonna add to more 80mm on the back of the bottom compartment. behind the door on the bottom are 2 cdroms and 2 harddrives. The PSU is behind the clock face (yes the clock works). The 4 80mm fans on the sides blow accross the case. I got SilenX fans and I must say even at 12 bucks a pop...theye are freaken awsome. The case is ultra quite and the fans move a good amount of air | ||

must.....resist......inappropriate.....comment.... .....grrrrrrr Anyway, I like the claws in the case and this new one of the clock is really Pimp. Great job you did on both mods. One questions...does the whole drawer come out for the CD-Rom? Rob | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| No it's a door, it folds down and 2 cdroms are mounted on top of each other on the right then a divider and 2 Hdd on the left...Pics of it coming in a day or so Other things...hard to tell but the bottom peice of glass has a one Inch bevel Last edited by Slaphappy; 25-July-05 at 06:04 AM.. | ||

| I'll second what most everyone else has already said; I really like the gashes with the claws coming out. An original idea, and executed nicely. I can respect the clock mod, but I think it would've been a little better with some better wire management and stealthing of things, you know? Still looks good, though! | ||
