| Apex Elite Tech  |  Anyone know where I can find some LEDs? I have been searching Google for a retailer that sells purple 3mm and 5mm LEDs but have come up empty handed. Anyone know where I can get some? I need them to convert a Xoxide X-Iron case to purple lighting from the original blue. | |

Er I was hoping they would be true purple, not UV LEDs. I need to replace the LEDs that are in the light bars on the side of the front bezel so they need to be brighter than a UV LED would be.

Yeah I wish, I can't fit 2 LEDs in each end of the sidebars, but I might try putting them right up against eachother to test that... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Editor/Reviewer/LED Guru  | The only LED's I have ever seen that were Purple are UV.. I have seen some called purple but it looked more of a uber light Violet ... Almost pink.... On a note thats a good idea chairman.. I happen to have some RGB Led's... not on Dragonmodz.. I just bought them to play with and never have messed with them.. Think I have 5 or 6.... | |

| Editor/Reviewer/LED Guru | If you have a red and blue and are carful you can file down one side on each and make it smaller than normal... and be able to put the side by side.. only problem is you will have a red and blue streak showing near the leds cause the LED dies are so far apart they will not mix well until the light gets farther away if that makes any sence | |

Beat me too it, LSDiodes is the best place online for LEDs, hands down. Ebay is ok, but you usually have to buy in bulk, which is fine for 5mm Blue LEDs  but sometimes you need something specific. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

You read it wrong I think. You read the frequency of light which is 400-405nm, that isnt the MCD. I bought a crap load from them a bit back. They are on the order of 7-8K MCD, they are pretty darn bright. Twisted is right ALL purple LED's are UV. Some vary in color a bit but they are all UV. All purple light will emit some UV. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

No, I read luminous intensity and it was only like 100-150...hmm. Maybe there is some different way of rating intensity for UV light sources that I don't know about?  And anyway would they work well enough to light up the light tubes on this brightly enough: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Tech God  | I've been thinking of trying this, but I'm wondering what the result would be...since blue LED bulbs are clear, I wonder what it would do to the light emitted if they were painted with transparent red paint, as I used for my Gargoyle case custom acrylic grilles? The paint used was Krylon "Stained Glass" paint.  Might be worth a try, it's not like it'd cost you a lot if it didn't turn out like you thought... | |
