Default Anyone used a Nibbler from Ebay?

I was thinking about buying just making sure it wasn't a load of crap.

They are a load of crap. You will use one for about 6 inches until you get tired and break out the dremel. There is a reason that the name is nibbler. I prefer something called 12A 3/4 inch drill with a cutting wheel. Oh yeah, Give me some damn sparks when I'm cutting!

A nibbler's a must-have if you plan to do detail work on aluminum (I'm using it for parts of a design on a LiLi custom window, along with a dremel and needle files). But like BA and lokie say, I wouldn't recommend them for large cuts or curves. Never tried them on steel.

Got mine for about $10 from Radio Shack, and Directron's got them for $9 too. Maybe you save a couple bucks on eBay, but in any case, it never hurts to have another tool in the arsenal and it's not a big waste if you don't end up using it much anyway.

eh, Drememel wheels are such a bitch because the wheels break and die so quick it drives me insane, I'm probably just going to buy an electric jigsaw.

Get some reinforced wheels, unless those are the ones you're using. Just look in the other thread I made for more info....

The sell nibblers at CompUSA.

Anyhoo, I think I'm going to purchase a Dremel when I'm ready to put in my window. Seems like a good think to have around the house. But I wont be getting it until I'm into college, or at least until the summertime. My Dad doesn't want me doing any *major* modding to my computer.

i tried to use an air nibler to cut a window in my case...VERY hard to keep straight i ended up using the die grinder to smooth or the edges straight again, it still isnt perfect but i sprayed a black line around it and it makes it look way better

That's funny pstine, my kids feel the same way about me. I tore their system down last night to try some new stuff and they both said "Dad, you just put it back together! When are you going to be done?" My answer? Never.

You can buy a Nibbler from Directron at this LINK. I got one a couple weeks ago to cut some fans holes because, at the time, I couldn't find a 120mm holesaw, which I have now found here.

They work great, but they will hurt your hand if you cut for over 30 minutes. It took me about an hour and a half for each of 3 holes, and I still have a blister from it. The final cuts were absolutely perfect, though.

Screw it, my girlfriend's dad has a real jigsaw, that should do the trick I think! Maybe if it were a smaller window (PSU etc.) but it's just too damn big for a silly dremel.
