Default Modding ideas for my dragon

Im probably going to get an aluminum black Chieftec Dragon (original isnt it)

The first mod Im going to do is to cut out that curved vent thing on the front (the thing shaped like a bunch of archs) and put in some MNPCTech modders mesh instead. Then im going to put orange LED fans inside the front vent thingy. Im not sure if I should put one of those stickers ment for case windows on it (probably crossed M16s), do they make it look too premodded? Then I want to put in a keyswitch for the power, there is a tutorial on some site (forgot it) but it sounds pretty cool, it makes it so when you turn a key (like a car) it turns on ur pc. Has anyone here done this? Do you have any tips or suggestions?

thanx

I'v never heard of the key switch mod but as for the sticker in the window, I say get the case without a window and cut out dual M16's and make that your window. Instead of using modders mesh for the front i would get a sheet of aluminum and cut out a fan grill in the shape of a millitary patch if thats the theme your going for. Well, keep us posted with pics and such. Good luck.

Some tips for your first case mod

Remember to make this to please yourself, don't try to to bite off more than you can chew all at once, take it in stages...make your goals realistic for your skills...

It's best to have a vision of what you want the final product to look like, a "Theme" so to speak. things will practicaly build themselves if you can envision it!

Good luck!

If you are gonna cut those fins out, remember tha tthe fans are not center'd in the case front.I had to put a filter in there.

well im getting the one with the precut window because my last atempt at cutting a window was a disaster and im just starting out

Im also planning on putting modders mesh behind the window (maybe)

my theme is black/red and i will keep with the mesh stuff to (im cutting out all fan covers and soldering in mesh

i just need to wait till christmas (hopefully my pc will last that long)

im getting the case from www.xoxide.com for about 70 bucks with 2 red cold cathodes included
is there a better place to get that style of dragon in black

its where i got my silver one and it should serve your purpose well.

If you want good airflow from the front you'll have to cut out the botton of the harddrive rack. Also it performs a lot better if you mod it to hold 120's instead of 2 80mm. as for the window since it sounds as you havnt had much experience cuting windows i would get the one with the window then mod it from there.

If you feel the need you can cut your own and its not that hard and remember if you do mess up you can always buy the side panels as it is a very common case.

hope this helps

I know it isn't the most creative MOD...but the paint job was the thing that made the case....A friend did all the airbrush work...I can't take credit for it...."Wade's World"

It was a theme case I had painted for Halloween for a display in the front of our store....but it never sold....gosh darn it...guess I will have to keep it.

not sure if that one's alum or steel, but its still a pretty good deal. i would alos consider getting one without a window and cutting your own, it usually looks better and its cheaper, but i understand if you dont have the time/resources for it
