Doing this Enlight 7237 case mod. Moving CDroms lower. Adding LCD screen. 120mm filtered intake on front. 92mm filtered intake on back. 120mm exhaust on side, directly from SLK-800 heatsink. Making a custom lexan fan adapter to fit the 120mm on the 87x57mm sink. Replaced power supply fan with 92mm quiet panaflow.

Building a new Bezel with MDF. Replacing sides and top with acrylic secured with thumb screws. Painting Bezel and CD tray covers Silver. Grinding all the metal with a circular pattern and clear coating it. Might do some lighting.

Couldn't figure out a good silver effect in Paint Shop Pro.

I am new to this whole thing but what I would do other than what you have listed is this...
I would replace 1 whole side panel with a tank filled with water, and use a pump to run air through tiny holes punched into a clear tube in the bottom. (Yes, I have seen this done, no I can't remember where.... But I praise the guy who came up with it)
Place a Neon Cathode on the inside, the cathode with the bubbles gives off a really neat effect and it isn't that difficult to do. If my case didnt' already have a window, I would have done it already. If plain water doesn't amuse you you can always add things in the middle of the tank (toys, gimmicks, etc.)
A case looks decent when it just sits there and has shiny lights sure... But it looks Pimp, when there is interactive movement of some sort. Peace.

Actually, I too have seen the water effect you describe.

I was thinking of maybe doing something similar for my next reservoir!
