| you cant really do alot more then that....what i did was i took out one of the floppy drive bay covers, replaced it with a peice of lexan, and cut 3 holes in the front and mounted 3 eluminated rocker switches in it, and hooked my lights tio the switches, since the switches have lights in them themselves, they illuminate the whole peice of lexan.... i have seen people use old doorbell ringers, and other types of old school on/off, rocker switches and they look really cool.....i saw one guy use a actual light switch panel, like the kinds they have in large business's for multiple lights in one room, he mounted it to the bottom side panel....looked kinda hillbilly rigged, but it had its original look to it to | ||

| Hmm... Here are some ideas I've seen around: Put in a MatrixOrbital or CrystalFontz LCD, though it might be a tight fit to put in a switch, too. Or on a budget, put in a Compunurse Temp Sensor (about $12 shipped). Cut out a design, back it with frosted plastic (like from a milk carton) and backlight it with some LED's or a 4" cathode. You could even just cut out a rectangle from the faceplate, attach the frosted plastic to the back of that, and then put something inside just behind the plastic that'll cast a cool shadow (so you can only see the design when the light's on). Better yet, use some one-way mirror instead of frosted plastic. Re-route your network card's LED's from the back of your computer (mod guide here) Get an audio VU-meter like this one from CanaKit. They also have temp sensors, FM transmitters, and a bunch of other stuff. ![]() Hope these get your creative juices flowing! | ||

| I like the idea of putting in a design and backlighting it with a 4" CCFL. Only, how would I be able to get such a clean cut? Just making a hole for the switch in it was moderately terrible. I'm very much thankful that they included a washer to cover up my mistakes. ![]() | ||

| I didn't think of it last time I had to renew the registration on my Honda, but I'm in the market for a new (sports) car, so that'd be the perfect time. Better to put a pimpin' plate on a pimpin' car, anyway. In Maine they let you check vanity plate availability online (here), so you can tell what's taken or even allowed (they won't allow "BYTE ME" for some reason). | Apex Techie Wannabe | i may have a suggestion for u, i only have 1 cold cathode in my lian li case and i didnt want to just have one switch at the front because it would look stupid with stealthed drives and the lot and u got 1 silly switch hanging out. So i got an expansion slot cover drilled a hole in it and had the switch at the back of my pc in an expansion slot, only thing is u need to reach behind the pc to turn it on and off, but hey, ur not using the switch every 5 mins are u?? hehehe | |
