| I have a killer mod idea that WILL be my next project...problem is, it requires a clear case and Im not sure I can afford it. Cheapest one I have found is $200! YIKES! I dug around a few sites and havent found anything, that Beantech one looks cool, but i cant find the case listed on their site. Looked elsewhere, not sure what im doing wrong. Whats the cheapest Clear case any of you know of? | ||

| Damn..$200 seems like a good deal for an acrylic case; I see most in the $250's. Xoxide had theirs for about $180, but that was when it was one sale, and I am pretty sure they are still out of stock on it. Lemme check on that, though. EDIT - here's the link - price is 199.99 and odds are its not EXACTLY the same as the other case you were looking at..BUT it does have 5 fan holes ![]() EDIT EDIT - Erm, forgot link..I am gettin too old http://www.xoxide.com/clearacatxca.html Last edited by loodamaris; 18-December-02 at 02:14 PM.. | ||

| Abyssling, dont think I havent considered that. If i had some instructions i would do it in a HEARTbeat, cause it really would fit with my idea better anyway. How do I attach 2 pieces of acrylic to eachother and maintain the crystal clear look and the stability? I thought about bending a "c" shaped piece and afixing a top and bottom, no idea how, this could be a serious undertaking. | ||

| This will be the third time I've pimped this place so they should give me some store credit, but check out usplastic.com. That's where I will be getting my parts from. They have acrylic 90 degree connectors, acrylic 3 panel connectors, clear bolts, screws, and hinges. A huge variety of different types of acrylic to choose from also. Everything you need to build a sweet acrylic rig for cheap. | ||

| Well, I built my case out of plexiglass that I bought from Lowe's. I bought one big sheet of 1/4" (2' by 4'), and cut the side panels and the top section. I then realized that I had to make the case bigger, so I headed back to Lowe's. I found out they didn't carry any smalled 1/4" sheets, so I headed out to the local glass shop. I had them custom cut a sheet just the size I needed. This is where I found my adhesive. What I used was called "IPS Weld-on #4". If you chose to use this adhesive, be sure to use it EXTREMELY sparingly. I only used about 1/4 of a teaspoon of this stuff. Also, be sure to get the edges very flat. I used a file to achieve this. It worked great, start with a thick file, and after that, use a thinner file. This glue doesn't really glue, it actually melts the two surfaces together. So, measure twice, cut once (or twice), and glue once. If you are careful, you should have a well built case. Any more questions, email or PM me. Here's what mine looks like.... Good luck. | ||

| Apex Techie I | I plan on building an acrylic case too. I got all the pieces I need custom cut to the exact size at my local plastics shop. Everything including hardware was about $70 a lot better than $200 if you ask me. Ummm...for the clear joins use a clear silicone based adhesive or make acrylic glue from some acrylic stock(directions on this site I do believe). | |
