Default Allied PSU Mod Help!!

I have a 400W Allied PSU that I'd love to put a clear mod cover with 92mm blue LED fan in...but I can't figure out if the dimensions will work. The PSU is 5.7" x 5.9" x 3.5" (L x W x H) and the frozencpu website says the cover is 5 9/16" x 5 13/16" x 2 15/16" (LxWxH). Will this fit? (Heh...what the hell is .7" or .9" in real measurement terms anyway? I understand a measurement out of 16 a lot better...) Or does anyone out there have an Allied PSU with the same dimensions that they've modded?

I agree that "5.7 inches" is a ridiculous way to report your yankee measurements!

However, I will also go to my grave firmly believing that your whole measurement system is ridiculous!

Why the hell can't you all adopt metric and celsius like......well, like the rest of earth?

Anyhow, decimals are base 10. Therfore 5.7 inches would be:

5 7/10

to convert that to your conventional manner numerator x 16 divided by denominator.

in this case 7 x 16 = 112 divided by 10 = 11.2

There fore 5.7 inches must be 5 11/16.

Doing the other conversions, your psu measures:

5 11/16 x 5 7/8 x 3 1/2

Hope that helps.

Putwig, I have to agree with you. There are what, 2 countries in the entire world who haven't adopted yet?

Anyway, Anubis, yes it will work. I have the clear mod and it is very forgiving when it comes to PSU size. Buy it and enjoy.

I'm just making my own psu cover out of plexi. Its more fun that way.
The cover in question has a mount for a 92mm fan. and the power supply has a dual fans. But the only problem I see is that the plexi is not deep enough it is not even 3 inches tall where the psu is 3 1/2 inches tall.

BA what about that last half inch?

The dimensions are with the original cover on. The components inside do not reach to the top of the cover, there is a gap in there for cooling. My Antec TruePower430 dimensions are 5.9x5.3x3.4 and the plexi works just fine over it.

LOL Elf. Thats an ingenious idea, duct tape is useful for pretty much everything. Hell, you could probably even use it instead of wax to get rid of unwanted hair. LOL. Yeah I hate some PSU's, they arn't the standard size. Well my generic ATX case came with a cheezy 300Watt L&C Power Supply that fit perfectly in the case; then I got my 350Watt Enermax Dual Fan Whisper with Automatic Fan Control, and the thing didn't quite fit right, it was a few mm's bigger than the L@C and I had to bend the tabs that help support the power supply and I had to take off the 92mm fan guard just to get it in the computer. I later replaced the fan guard when it was secured in the computer. I have to admit, why doesn't everyone just adopt to the metric system, It pisses me off so much.

Chiquita, why does the lack of a metric system make you so angry? Perhaps it is something buried in your childhood. Think back, did anyone ever measure you incorrectly? Did you measure something else incorrectly? I think we can work through this with months of therapy.

Your affliction is unique, I've never seen anybody ever post "why doesn't everyone just adopt to the metric system, It pisses me off so much." The anger towards measurement systems other than metric may be related to miniscule penile syndrome. There is no cure for it, you can only deal with it.

Meanwhile, I am measured in inches, you are measured in centimeters or milimeters. Which will the babes go for?

Hey now...uncalled for man. I thank you to the extent of your help in answering my questions. If you want to be personally rude to someone else, either post something on one of those online diaries, or send him a private message. This is a help forum and again, thanks for the help.

Yeah, I probably should have not posted that. There is a story behind Chiquita's anger, but this wasn't the place for it.

Hope the mod info helps you out and good luck.
