Default Perspex for window

I wanna do a custom side window and a HDD window, what is the ideal thickness of the perspex to use in each case?

Also I live in melbourne australia, if anybody can tell me where to get a sheet of decent perspex ar an alright price please tell me. I went to bunnings and a sheet there cost $50AUD, that $25US and thats way too much for a piece of plastic

For a side window I'd use a 1/8" thickness, probably nothing thicker. With a HDD mod (I admire your braveness) I'd go with the thinnest perspex you can find.

I'm not sure where you can find this online. Here in the states I got mine at a home depot. I'll see if I can find any online.

check out the windowed hard drive here: http://www.hitechmods.com/mods/hdd_w..._window1.shtml
he has some very good ideas and steps to do. To attempt this mod you should be carefull and practice on one that you can afford to lose.Good luck. that one does take some effort.

just did the hdd mod, the drive still works i'll say its more luck than anything. I've been reading the stuff around the forum and it seems that most modded hdds dont last that long afterwards, whys that? If dust got in shouldnt the damage be done straight away? I think i better find out before i start using it for real...

I would use it as a backup or misc drive only. Stuff you can afford to lose.
