Default Schematic for Laptop LCD from VGA port

Anyone have any ideas on wiring a Laptop LCD to be able to push video from either a VGA or video source. I have seen it done before.

I've always wanted to try this as well. I have read on many other sites though that you have to spend a lot of money on special controller boards to change signal and allow it to work. Try searching on google.com

if i remember correctly lcd screens from laptops are not standard vga at all and i believe you need to buy a special adaptor circuit which costs the bomb. if you find a way of doing it do let me know as i have thought of this idea before itd be nice to place on the mobo side of the case where there is no window have a fishtank look to it or something.

ah someone else has asked the million-dollar question.

I'm pretty sure its not possible without a controller.

Well I actually did make a VGA laptop monitor using a schematic that I found on a no name message board. Fortuantely for me I had a broken desktop monitor with a similar pinout so I just had to rewire it.

I'll take a pciture in a second but there is not much. It just looks like a monitor.

Well i actually dont have "the" schematic lying around (I lost it in a reformat). The odds are that you wont have the same LCD either. You have to look around google for the schematics or pinout of THIS MONITOR SERIAL NUMBER/NAME and keep varying your search til you come up with something. Sometimes the manufacturer of a product will have a schem for you.

Plus I actually did use a controller card, it just happened to be stolen from a very old broken desktop LCD monitor.

An lcd controller will costa hell of a lot. Almost as much as a new LCD monitor, unless you get lucky and have a certian type of LCD.

Do you have the laptop motherboard? If you then you already have the controller board.

That is what I got here right in front of me.

My lcd screen uses a DS90363AMTD controller chip link

the only other issue I have before implementing this idea, is the power.
Which is another connector, which means I just need to figure the pinouts.

anyway, I digress.

If you know who made the lcd screen, perhaps you can get a schematic, of the lcd or perhaps the laptop's board. You would be surprised of what you are able to find or reverse engineer these items.

Okay, you did this, but how? Wiring pin-outs, detailed photos, or a schematic would be helpful. I've seen your pics but I can't really make out anything in detail. What LCD did you use? How did you wire it up? If you da pimp, share da ho's!

Looks to me like the circuit board comes with the LCD, at first I thought it was an adapter but now I don't think so...I think one post could've explained everything, but maybe it's a mystik mod secret or something.
