| Apex Techie Lite | I'm going to put a top-mounted window with a 92mm fan mount. You'll notice the way my side window is mounted doesn't require molding. I didn't feel like doing the same for the top window but I had one question about cutting the hole. http://www.cuttingedgecasemods.com/windows.htm That's the window I'll have, dimensions 14.5 x 6. Does that mean I need to cut the whole to those dimensions, or just a little larger than that because of the molding? Haha, and please don't answer if you're just going to be a smartass. I realize it seems like a stupid question to most of you, but try to help a guy out...that's the point of these forums. | |

| The kit will come with instructions. They usually come with a washer, you lay the plexi where you want it, lay the washer beside the plexi, put pencil in the washer hole, and roll the washer/pencil combo around the plexi to give you your cut line. Any review of a premade window....and there are hundreds.....will have visuals of what I just described. Now if you would like help on how to make your own window instead of buying a kit, we could help you there as well. | ||

| i too am not artistically inclined, however,i have cut flames into the side and top of my case. this is what i did: 1.find a pic of the type of flames you want. 2.print them on paper. 3.cut them out and use as a template to draw on the case. 4.cut the case OR find a friend that can draw dont stress the little stuff,if ya dont like what it looks like, erase what ya drew and start over(hopefully BEFORE you cut! lol) hell, mine isnt perfect, but i like it cuz i made it! you never know what you are capable of untill you try. | ||

| When I started modding this 'puter about a year ago, I was all worried about how the window would look, whether it would be 'perfect' with clean lines. But, I'll tell ya, when I cut the window into the side of my mah-chine, I liked how it wasn't perfect. I liked how anybody who looked at it would immediately know that I did it myself. I just borrowed a plasma cutter (it's like a really hot cutting torch), scratched out the max outer dimensions, and started burnin'. Don't worry too much, just do it up. And if it ain't what you wanted, you probably learned enough from the results and your technique to make it a load better next time. | ||
