Default Cable Sleeve Size...

The age old question... Does size really matter? I think so.. At least when it comes to Cable Sleeves looking good in a case...
Well with that lil intro and this lil lead out I would like opinions on the best size cable sleeves to use on particular wires in the case i.e. Device power (molex ended cables) Analog CD audio cable, etc....
Thanks...

just finished useing expandable sleeving on my rig, the great thinkg about the braided sleeving is that it really expands.... on the smaller wires, like the CD Audio cable i used 1/4" sleeving, i used 3/4" on the main PSU cable to the mobo and, on the intermediate sized stuff i used 1/2,

(BTW, sent your disks )

I just did mine. I used 1/4" on the wires for the molex connectors. I had to take the connectors apart to fit it on though. http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread....&threadid=2170

Thats the Vantec Airoflow HSF, it uses a TMD fan(tip-magnetic Driven) as apposed to the usually center driven. Its pretty nice and cools well and low dB's....... The fan is a Y-tech 70mm TMD fan.

I used 1/4" on my power leads from my Power Supply, 1/8" on power leads from my case fans, and 3/4" from the ATX lead coming from my power supply.

The 1/2" size will fit over a molex and if you try hard enough you can squeeze it over the main power supply line too.

Could you put electrical tape or simular tape around the psu cables?
or would this act as an insulation and heat up the cables.?

I'm using some regular black electrical tape, works fine here. I've found it to look alot cleaner than heatshrink too.

the problem with using tape or heat-shrink,is that it tends to leave cables a little stiff.if you tape them then try to route them, they don't wanna corner so well.
as far as insulating the cables, that's what the wire coating does anyway.

You can also use a medium small(second smallest in a set of em in a case of 6 or so which are found commonly at alot of stores) jewelers screw driver, which works awesome and works on every connector the PSU has. Molexes are easiest to do IMO. I just finished my PSU with mylar sleeving and white heatshrink(white tape for smaller connectors, barely noticable) and it looks great.....better than anything else I've seen out their...IN MY SELFISH OPINION I think I'm gonna borrow a digi cam for one day from my cousins and then go on a picture taking spree......

I used a small old pareing knife from the kitchen, use the dremel to cut it down to just a small tooth pick looking tool (use the blunt side for stability) and it works great and fit perfect...

The jewelers screwdrivers aren't very strong, so if you do use one be careful not to snap it.
