Apex Techie I
Default HDD Temps

Leading from my last question. I have 3 hdds in my comp in one cage, theres about | | room between them stacked one above the other. Obviously a 30, 120 and 200 gig will make alot of heat as far as hdds go, but id like to know whats the ideal temp for them to be. Right now I have a sensor on the middle hdd reading about 84-88F. Thats with 2 80mm fans blowing on them.

That doesn't sound too bad, a bit above room temp. I think with those fans you'll be fine.

If they are fairly new drives, they should have a way of measuring there internal temps, that is what you need to look at.

There are probably several programs that can do it, SpeedFan comes to mind

Then compare the temp to what the manufacturer has set for limits, just check specs for your model number at their website under "Support"
