case from scratch question

I currently have a Lian Li that is way bigger than I need at the moment. The Lian-Li I am interested in now, is a discontinued model.

So to get exactly what I want I have desided to buy my own aluminum and do the anodizing and manufacturing, but keeping roughly the same look as the regular Lian Li.

So what I was wondering was if I need to actually go to all the trouble to bend the aluminum using a press or a break at some machine shop or is there a way I can do it that will save me the trouble and money?

The next question was after anodizing the aluminum should I dye or paint it? I am leaning towards painting because it seems easier.

Other than that I have it all planned out, I would appreciate the feedback from any of you modders that have built their own case, preferably out of aluminum.

Sorry I can't help you with bending aluminum part, but, I would think if you want to paint it you should get it powder coated. Going the powder coating way you won't have to worry about anodizing it and will probably run you between $60 -$85. Where as anodizing would cost that much plus the paint to. Also powder coating looks really good and is very durable.

how come you want such a small case. the pc-60 only has two more drive bays.

Not even for LANs really. I just do not need all the space that I have now with the PC-71. It's just eating the space in my room.

The only 5.25" drives i'm installing are my CDRW and DVDRW. I do not need anymore than that. For anything else I will use 3.5".

So does anyone know of anyone or anywhere that sells the Lian Li PC-30.

How do you need to bend the metal? it just depends on what you are talking about, there's a few ways I can think of, depending on what you are wanting to bend .
