| Apex Techie I | Ok Ive purchased 2 different red cathrodes and one has ended up being pink while the other is an orangish red. The orangish red one came from xoxide and was one of the "liquid" ones. Yeah and those do nothing at all either but flicker like once every 10 minutes. The other came from Best Buy. Anyone purchased a red cathrode that was actually really red? If so could you give me specifics. Im about to give up and go with green. Thanx in advance Last edited by blackfire; 27-July-04 at 07:04 PM.. | |

| All the red cathodes ive seen are pink unless they have a red tube or gel on them. The mod stores tweak their pics so they look redder than they are. If you want real true red you will have to go with LED's. Go to the auto parts store and but a pair of LED tail lamps, around $15. They alrady have a 12v driver circuit built in and you can wire them in turnsignal mode or brake mode or both for different brightness levels. Turn signal mode does NOT flash if you were wondering. They are brighter and redder than any CCFL you will ever come accross. | ||

| All the red cathodes I have purchased looked pink to me. I was able to fix this problem and it was cheap. Get some red transparent wrapping paper from a craft store and wrap the cathode with it until you get the desired shade you want. Use a little clear tape to hold in place. This works great. You can also use other colors of transparent wrapping paper for some really cool color effects. | ||

| I was going to suggest the same thing as Badaziam; wrapping several times with red cellophane would probably get you a real red for cheaper than buying/shipping new cathodes. Blackfire, I know what you mean about the liquid neon's; mine's the same way. It's a little better in sound sensitive mode, but still... | ||

REAL UV? All UV light is real. The UV light you are referring to are Short Wave UV lights and are mainly used in sterilizing applications and such. You dont want SW UV, it can damage eyes and skin pretty easily | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
