oh holy jesus, what have you done! Whats with all the pale blue, although i have to say i like the Knightrider lights, i would try and get some of that chameleon paint and paint the whole lot, maybe with an accent colour around the outside edge as a really fine line.

I would have to say thats the ugliest color I have EVER seen on a laptop - but it does take BIG cojones to disassemble your laptop. I had one apart once and that was enough for me.

im actually planing on re painting the whole thing again. and if you do have any good color suggestions let me know, and this time im painting it at the car body shop so it will look more even and less dull, plus not scratch so easy.... maybe flat black with some pinstripe (see image)

Flat black with gloss red, white and black striping would look cool.

the image i created myself, it attached on here so feel free to use it. the paint i used was crappy rusto paint.. its already strarting to scratch off, soon as i get the chance im gonna repaint it all. you can actually see the can of paint i used in the background of the photo. oh and i threw in another image that i have on my desktop now... oh yea.... also i did want to put a big plexie window on the back... but there is a fat ass wire for the lcd that runs down the middle..... dont have the balls to try to make it longer so i can reroute it.... when you have a 1200 laptop and replacement parts are a pain in the ass to get, you thing twice about doing things.

If you guys are talking about what I think you're talking about, I'm wondering how in the world you think you're gonna fit a UV CC in the housing for the LCD screen.....

there is surpisingly a fair amount of space back there.. but i would probaly do a etch with one the sides to light it up.. the only problem.... no real place to get power from... yet another downside of laptops. oh yea i found out i can tear the whole thing down in 7min... down to nothing, found that out when it was running to hot and had to give it a good cleaning. also i realized it would be fun to make a whole plexy case... been doing some reading up on forming plexy glass. "yea dude, its a clear DELL!"

Modders best source for 5v, the USB line. You can power LEDs off that just fine. I modded mine with some keyboard lights running of the USB power.

EDIT: Fun fact, you can run CCFLs just fine without the large casing, lookup my X-box thread, the 4" ones fit perfectly inside BIC pens.

Well in the laptops I've taken apart, there's been basically no room for anything that doesn't belong there. But maybe yours is different. Plus I'd think the brightness of the CC would screw with the LCD display if it were right behind it, but I don't really know anything about that.

the CC shouldnt interfere with the LCD as it will most likely have a metal backing one for protection and two for support.
