Default Antec P160 - where does the case speaker go ?

My first post

I have last week picked up the Antec P160 case and cannot find any socket for the case speaker - can anyone with this case mention where they have placed their case speaker...

Thanks

The speaker really isn't necessary, but if you must have one, a small piezo speaker works well and takes up less room.

I connect the speaker to hear any error beeps on boot up. My board the ASUS P4C800-E Dlx also beeps once for each USB device attached - this lets me know if I forget to power on my 2 USB2 external HDD's.

I already have an old speaker which I was looking to attach to this setup but I could not find any convenient spot in the case - I tried to attach the speaker with a hot glue gun to the base of the case but the glue stick material did not hold well to the Aluminium of the case. I dont want to use super glue or any such permanent bonding material.

well i dont see the need for one considering i ripped mine out of a case because it always beeped and annoyed the heck out of me. but try using double sided tape or just tape it to the bottom of the case or back of the motherboard tray using electrical tape or something

Mine beeps only during boot - and I know all my USB devices are ready to go by the number of beeps.

"Back of the motherboard tray" - now why did I not think of that That is one place where it would be out of the way and not create any problems if it moved. THANKS

I try avoid using tapes inside the case as most tapes bleed in our climate. I have some 3M double sided foam mounting tape and this too gets quite messy.

How about making a funky bracket out of carbon fibre, aluminium or plexi & screwing it to the pci slot frame?

IF I were to need one that is the kind I would get, that way it will never be in the way, and thier cheap too, but I have some small speakers at home too and thier even cheaper, but thier much bigger than that thing.

Spoken like a true MODDER

I have an old Plastic card cooler from which I have removed the fan - possibly the speaker will fit into the empty space - this would be GREAT !!!

You people have really given me a lot of ideas - THANKS.

I would have liked to get this product - sadly where I come from these type of hardwares will not be available locally and importing them is too much of a hassle. I have sent this link to my local computer store and asked them if they would import these speakers - lets see what they say.

You may want to ask if they have some old cases. Similar speakers come stock in some smaller cases, and I have made my own from salvage. They usually have a longer wire, but a couple snips and some solder makes them nice and tidy. Less wires to hide in a case is a goooood thing.
