| Lem'me catch you all up with Project AF1. I started taking it apart and gutting out everything. ![]() ![]() ![]() I then started by adding a blow hole to the front. Later I'll add a rubber edging to it to cover up the rough edges. ![]() And I created a tunnel with a couple of old 80mm fans and spray painted them chrome. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I put 'em all together and did... ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I added some diamond plate steel on the right side. Plexi will go on top. ![]() Then I used chrome paint on the inside of the case. ![]() And prepped the steel to cover the drive bays. ![]() The I added the new Power supply. ![]() And cut a hole in the diamond plate steel on the right side so you could see the PSU. ![]() Then I made a grill MOD with thin adhesive foil for some of the fans with the Counter Strike image. ![]() ![]() Added a rim to the blow hole. Could of sworn I had a pic with the lights on. ![]() Then some shots of the interior so far. ![]() ![]() And with the lights off. ![]() ![]() Here's the front after I added the Stealthed CD/DVD drives. I'm still waiting to put in my LCD. ![]() I bought the Koolance Exos for this computer, but got the black one. So I painted it to match my case. ![]() Here's my window before pic. ![]() I wanted to go with silver, so I sanded it down and.... ![]() Same thing with the right side. I sanded it down and added a sticker to it. ![]() I gave the Koolance a 24 hour test run and got.... ![]() I did more work on the right panel too. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I mounted the koolance exos on the case. ![]() And I installed the heatsink. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I tried using a small piece of acrylic for the air plane but I think it looks worse. Maybe I'll use fishing line. ![]() I finished installing all my drives. ![]() Still working on the wiring though. The case will be done as soon as I get the time time connect all the primary mobo wiring.. | ||

| Not too shabby...but I have a couple of comments, take them as you will. It seems to me there are just too many shade of silver going on there in kind of random places. Perhaps a little more coordination with the colors. The wiring. I know you said that you are working on it now, but, my god, that's a mess. As for mounting the plane....try drilling a hole in the bottom of the plane and using a stick of clear plastic (like a swizzel stick) mount the plane. Next make a hole for the plastic stick in the bottom of that trim you make for the duct and mount the plane. | ||

| I tried the stick thing too, but it always looked to thick and too visible. I went with real thin metal twine and hung it from the top of the trim. It's not that visible and with it being thing and weak it allows the plane to move slightly (like turbulence) under the suction of the fan. | ||

| So far, so good. Here's where I am. The computer is essentally completed and is up and running. I still need to work on the right panel with the tribal flag. ![]() And for some reason I can't get my Matrix Orbital to work, but I will mess with it some more till and hopefully get it working. Below is the Hard drive temp. ![]() The Koolance shows the processor temp. ![]() And inside the left panel. You can see how I cleaned up the wiring and used more diamond plate steel to cover up the drive cages. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then the right side without the panel which I'm still doing. ![]() And inside the left panel. You can see how I cleaned up the wiring and used more diamond plate steel to cover up the drive cages. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then the right side without the panel which I'm still doing. ![]() ![]() Hopefully I'll be totally done in a week. | Here is another idea to throw out there. How about getting your hands on one of those toy wands with fiber optic strands coming out and ripping out the guts, discard all but the strands and light source (and power, of course). Thread the fiber strands through the plane at carefully drilled intervals, bend the strands in strategic intervals, suspending the plane with these strands and then turn on the light source. This way it will look like the plane is in a lightning storm. | ||

| Just to be selfish and wanting this thread to stay alive till I at least finish the right panel next week I wanted to post another pic I forgot about. Thanks for everyone's ideas and support. ![]() And I do realize that I need to paint the floppy drive silver too. Duh.... | ||

Diamond plate steel? Oh, you mean in the 'before' pic. That is silencing foam. It does dampen sound, but causes heat problems. http://store.yahoo.com/directron/paxmate.html | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
