Default dell into an ATX case?

Would it be possible to fit a Dell 88250 computer into a normal ATX case?

Thanks

What size is the motherboard, ATX / microATX / flexATX - anything is POSSIBLE. The guts out of my freebie HP 532w bolted right in a standard ATX case without any hitches - the motherboard was a standard microATX board.

As far as I know dells have their own motherboard type, and they wont fit into anyother case and other motherboards wont work with dell cases. That is without a lot of modding.

In all my experience with Dell, their motherboards are made custom for their cases, and do not take likely to case switching. For example, not only would you have to take out the motherboard, but you would have to remove the extra PCI card slots, the special power switch, and that strange heatsink thing they have been using.

Is it worth all that troublw just to keep a 75 dollar refurbished mobo, you tell me.

Look into the IC7-G, at 118 dollars, it's a steal. the bad thing is Dell parts, well most of them, only work with a Dell mobo, so if you do switch, forget your RAM, and CPU.

Dell cases and mobos, at least the 8100 series are indeed custom. The case I had used proprietary mounting studs, not screws to attach the mobo, which had special holes to accomadate them. I was looking into using an old 8100 case I had laying around for a normal ATX rig but found that a good deal of time and effort would be required and decided not to attempt it.

CPU and RAM will swap, the only things Dell has that are there own are the Mobo, PSU, mounting and HSF design, everything else swaps......even CPU and RAM

You may be right, but in my experience, the P.4 we took out would not POST in any other board, except the Dell.

As for the RAM, it was RD and I did not have anything else that I could try it on.
