| Apex Elite Tech | I didn't know which forum to put it in, so I chose this one. ![]() I'm planning on buying a Sieko L2014 LCD display soon. These are the kind that you wire to your parallel port. I was wondering if they work under windows XP. This is probably a dumb question...but, do they? If they do (which I hope they do), does anyone know of software that I can download to run it with Winamp, and Display Temperatures and such? Any Help Appreciated..... Camper |

| Apex Tech Maniac | If you want to control the lcd under xp, all that matters is what software you use. If the software works under xp and supports parallel lcd units then your good to go. LCD smartie is pretty good. You can get LCD smartie here. LCD Center 2.0 is pretty good as well. Couldn't find a link for it thought. Both can control parallel units and xp. Both will also let you display temperatures, winamp info and more.

![]() | It will work with XP. You will need to download Port95NT.exe to enable the printerport drivers to drive the display. Get it here I'm not sure LCDC supports Parrallel displays as I think it supports only Serial displays. Itis also stated to support only Matrix Orbital displays, although some have used it on other LCD displays with success. LCD Smartie is about the best freeware LCD driver that I have tried. It's not as slick as LCDC, but it's free!

| Apex Elite Tech | Ok..now that I know about the software...What about mounting one of those. I'm still working on planning to front panel of my case (plexi glass) and I was wondering it I would be able to mount an LCD (namely the Sieko L2014) behind a piece of plexi glass. I mean, could I use screws to screw the LCD behind the piece to help protect from damage? If you have any suggestions/ ideas on it, It would be MUCH appreciated. Right now I'm planning five 5 1/4 inch drive bays. (1 dvd, 1 cd-rw, 1 fanbus, and 2 for the LCD and switches) Do you think I should cut out the space for the LCD, or leave it connected to the front panel and not cut. Anything Appreciated.. Camper |

![]() | I would try it behind the clear bay first, I think it would look pretty good like that. As for mounting, does the Seiko not have hole on four corners? If it does I would use finishing bolts. Unless you want a boltless finish which might be harder to pull off with a clear case. For mine I used dual sided carpet tape. Holds like glue, but is thin as well. Difference being my face plates aren't clear so I was able to use it....
