http://www.mothers.com Good stuff and easy to find. They make pretty much anything you'd need in the way of polish.

For polishing the interior of a case or custom engraved metal plates (hint at what is to come for the sides of my drive cages), which of those particular polishes would you recommend?
The one for clearcoats? The sealer & glaze?

Just did a hard drive for my new Lian-Li with Blue Magic metal polish. You can check your teeth in it...

hmm i was actually thinking for my next case to have everything in it completely polished to a shine . .. wonder how long that would take. probably would have to disassemble the case and polish each part individually . ..

probably should go buy a rivetor before i attempt this i guess . ..

Get some mechanical help too, Enko: I got a cheap (£15) bench grinder, took the guards off & replaced the grinding wheels with 5" polishing wheels: medium on one end & fine on the other.

Works great (with brown polishing soap on the med end & blue soap on the other), but you need a full mask & old clothes to avoid all the dust & crud that gets thrown off... it's best to do it outdoors too. Gloves are a must (I use thick suede welder's gauntlets) - if you push too hard and/or the wheel grabs, it tends to rip the piece out of you hands & fire it across the garden ...

Autosol metal polish is good for "maintenance" polishing.

IMO, clearcoat/lacquer/whatever is not a good thing, polished metal never looks as good covered as it does in the raw, though I suppose if you used lots of coats & rubbed it out it would look ok.

when you polished it, did you have to sand everything down too? i was just planning on getting the metal polish from english custom polish. the finish with those polishes look pretty nice.

though if i do attempt this, wonder how i'm going to get a plastic bezel polish to a reflected surface?

You could always get the bezel chromed. Like the guys at bit-tech did for project Orac3. Came out looking nice and shiny.

gah, no chrome plating places nearby . .. looks like i'll just paint the outside black and rub it out to a shine. i'll stll polish the inside stuff to a mirror i guess.
