Default Case questions

well, i'm back, kinda, the noise comming out of my PC has been starting to drive me nuts, and i want to put together a nice simple, not so much modded, as just well build quiet system- on a budget (of course)

i've really been liking these new cheiftec cases i've been seeing over at new egg, and i was wondering if:
-anyone has used one (though i'm not too worried cause they are the same chasis as everything else most likely)
-if the power supply they have is worth anything (primarily over clocking, i have a genric 40 that is alright till i can afford an antec true)

plain case: here
with PSU: here

and any other sugestions would be great too

Looks like a pretty decent case, especially for the price tag. I just hate that Antecs almost all come with some crap PSU that you just have to buy new anyway. I was lucky and got a pretty decent one with mine, however. (Antec 350W Solution Series). If you want quiet you might also want to look into watercooling in the future, in which case the Antec Sonata would be an ideal candidate. It costs more, so I don't know how viable that is for you ATM. Also there are alot of good full towers that can be had for $50-100 if you want the larger size.

Haven't really seen one of these cases in person, but from the reviews I've read and the pictures I"ve seen, it looks like it has the same layout/design as previous models.

So I'm guessing they have lotsa room for ya

If you have a CompUSA or a Staples around ya you can see some Antec/Cheiftec cases in person...get a feel for'em

I bought one of those cases a few weeks ago. It is almost identical to the other chieftecs with only a few exceptions. The first problem is the new drive mounting system. You have to use a full size drive. So most people who use a rheobus will have to modify it to work with a full drive. I used an old cd-rom and did a little cutting to make the rheobus fit. Also if you use a rheobus you will have to do a little cutting on the door as there is no clearance. Here are a few pics to explain what im talking about.

Oh if you are using a small one you are fine then. It would go in the cage with screws. You might still have to do a little trimming on the door as there is really no clearance at all. You might get lucky though and your knobs line up with the holes. You know tiger has some chieftecs for 29 bucks. They are the older model though.

These are the ones tiger has for 29.99 . I got my new chieftec from newegg a few weeks ago for 39 bucks. It was discounted since the case was black and the bezel was silver. Like that matters anyways since it will be getting a paint job.

yeah, i managed to figure that out, i'm not 2, i forgot how cheap the cheiftecs where over tehre, i was gunna get a matrix right when they came out, then got lazy, they still havent come down in price (in fact i think they may have gone up) i like those cases, they are jsut so cliche these days and i dont liek the design that much anyway, i want something a little more origional, and the one with the metal grills look pretty sharp. so yeah.. i duno, its such a good deal (but i would have to repaint most of it for the black and marron paint job i'm thinkin about, and the CX case looks like jsut what i want)
