god damn psu wires are too god damn short. cant make em loop around anything because they wont reach the device. anyone know of a good 400-420w psu with long cables so I can hide dem wires?

As you said "device" I assume it's the 12v/5v drive power looms that are giving you a problem ... I'd think about extending them rather than getting a new one - there's only 4 wires to deal with at a time.

A bit of wire, heatshtink, a soldering iron & some cheap wire cutters/strippers should be enough, although you'd probably want to do some sleeving to hide the joins. You could buy some fancy UV reactive molex plugs while you're at it

Yes it would work, just cut and solder. Make sure you dont mix up the grounds!!! Or on that note any other wires. Ive done this, supplying power to 2 HDD's and works fine. Make sure you get the same gauge wire, you dont want 20 (or w/e) amps going through 3 strands of cheasy wire. I used outdoor christmas lights for wire

Dimazz, in my experience (at least 20 PSUs poked about in) the grounds in the power looms all go to the same point on the PSU PCB, so it's doesn't matter if you mix them up ... as long as you don't mix them up with the 12 & 5v wires

Christmas light wire? Did you leave any of the lights on ?

soldering would leave you with a cleaner joint. no big bulky molex connector in the way or the air. And looks nicer too.

I got an Antec True-Blue 480watt. The wires are long as hell, and its got the power to run anything. Only downside is it put me out almost a $100.

I got a Antec 550w Truepower, it's got plenty of length. Thanks to an accounting error, it only ran me $50!

kayin, i have the noisetaker 470, and theres a few things i like about the wires and a few things i dont

they are long enough for most applications but not as long as id like, i wouldnt think it would be too hard to hide though

one problem i do have, the main mobo power is meshed with that metallic stuff, which looks sweet as hell, but it is ass to bend and hide anywhere, and i havnt really decided if im going to cut if off or not

my 2c

I have the 470W Noisetaker. Love the PSU, hate the wires! I will be pulling it all apart in the future.

They sleeved the main ATX cable in silver braided sleeving, very nice. The then did the same with the "P4 aux" connector. Nice idea, but they royally screwed it up. The nice silver braid continues until about 6 inches from the end of the cable then it splits into three lines all covered with horrible cheap (glossy black) heatshrink. The three lines are as follows:

1. P4 aux
2. a single molex (for GPUs that require it)
3. some huge as ugly legacy POS thing that I am completely unable to identify.

So basically you end up with a huge black spider in the center of your case. I am still dumbfounded by it.

The 500w Aspire turbo i just got has some pretty long wires on it. 2 sets of strings with 4 molexes each. Long ATX wires as well. I had to shorter all of them to get the look I was going for. Plus a gold anodized with yellow acrylic cover doesn't look right with green UV sleeving and blue UV Led fans. Kinda strange on that color combo. Had to mod all that out before throwing it in my case.

So any ideas for what to do with the spider in the case if I've got a PC-60?

I have a QTEC 400 watt dual fan PSU and for the time being, It SUCKS. Yeh its holding everything together nicley, but the cables are way to short to hide them, and the fans are too slow to remove any amount of air - as a result it does get a little warm.

Im getting a some point, along with several other upgrades, an Antec 500watt with front panel controller. Will report back if im pleased.

The spider must be stepped on.

I would take off all the sleeving on that line. Seperate the three lines. Resleeve them however you see fit.

I would hide the big connector that I can't identify, or remove it all together (after figuring out what it is). Resleeve the P4 AUX cable in whatever colour you like.

You could include the GPU plug in with the P4 AUX and have it seperate at a point that keeps the case neat (different for every case). I would probably keep it seperate and lengthen it so it ran along the floor and went up straight vertical to the graphics card.

First rule of neat wiring:

Horizontal and vertical runs are far less noticeable than obliques.

edit: Here you can see exactly what I am talking about:
