Default First Post/ First Dremel/ First Paint

First mod for me in progress

First Dremelling, and painting...so its pretty rough at the moment. The paint got all messed up so I still have to strip it down and repaint.

Future work to be done to it:

120mm blowhole fan and grill (maybe custom)
Fine tune the edges of the flames to knock out the straightlines...
possible cut center piece to left of Side Fan out....

...and clearcoat it once I get the colors right

Welcome to PimpRig

Nice design work on the windows..Its hard, but not impossible, to get the look you are after with spray can paint though..can you get your hands on an automotive spray gun or airbrush?
That will make for a super smooth paint job

I'm not sure how well it'd work, but I know for small models they make an airbrush system that involves aerosol cans and those little paint tubs. It may work in a pinch.

Default Update

Finally moved to my new place and wife gave the whole basement to me.... what a gal

Anyhow got to get busy again on tightening up my first project. I had totally trashed the original stock bezel through trial and error, and figuring out a wire brush on a dremel is not good for plastic.... go figure.

WHATS NEW:

Front bezel from scratch -
-acrylic from Home Depot
-chrome molding from Autozone
-really bad screws to be replaced or cut flat one side to be flush

Blow hole -
-just trimmed out in chrome (awaiting SVC shipment still for Fan)

Inside -
-Realizing my blowhole would 50% restricted by a stealth CDrom sitting back an extra 2 inches I had to (still in process of) placing it on the bottom of the case. I had to dremel off the bottom 3 HD cages and pop the rivets off. Only problem I foresee having is if my MoBo is to wide. Only way to remedy this is to use this Junk Syntax mobo in it since it only goes as deep as a PCI slot plus a couple inches...gonna be tight fit.

FUTURE PLANS STILL

-Replace bezel screws, they look bad and dont fit right with the molding underlapping them
-somehow fill the gaps in the Molding (Top corners of bezel, and beginning ending of molding on blowhole). I didnt cut the angles just so and they dont match just right.
- reroute the CDRom LED, and attach external eject button.
- Two 92mm fans will be mounted Externally on the Faceplate. Clear with 4 red LEDS.
- 120mm Clear blowhole mounted internal with 4 red leds.
- Side intake, Clear/Red LEDs 92mm
- Chrome Fanguards (bought not made). Blowhole guard might have to be mounted on 1/2 inch risers depending on location of handles and looks.
- Take apart the whole thing and clean clean clean. Ive been dremelin the plastic with the PSU and CDrom in there...I know I know, lazy.... and I need to Vac it all out. Also Give it a Acetone rubdown from all the Overspray on the inside.
- Two CC Reds from SVC. Its gonna be big red bright bitch, Im almost regretting not making the CC's yellow, or the fans yellow to contrast the red...oh well next time.

Thats where I am at on my First Mod, and thanks to all you for the Infos and Step by steps to do it. Been modding for 1 month and learned about everything from these forums only.... Thanks for a new hobby.

That's great for a first time dremel/paint

Just a persoanl opinion: I don't really like how you did the flames but they look like they were cut well, so this isnt supposed to be taken as a bad thing. Just opinion

Im actually not too fond of them myself. I didnt expect to go this far with it so I didnt take all the time in the world on the panel. Hehe so I can see where ya coming, thanks for critism though, Id rather get that sometimes so I know what to improve upon.

Back from the dead... not to bump an old post but I picked this case back up after hacking up some real crappy micro atx cases.

The stealthing part im gonna throw out the window for now... the whole acrylic bezel was just too...cheese for my taste I guess. I took the front bezel off an Old E-machines tower...turned it upside down and am using the bottom half as the top....

Real funky smoke when cutting that old plastic...ugh.

I turned my Hard drive cage sideways with some new rivets...mostly for appearance of the wires coming out the ass of the drive.

So where I am at now is this. I want to do the whole pneumatic (better yet electric) type open/close of the bezel to the right side. Any current places to get some small arms cheap?

And also I am considering throwing in a LCD display... and read..Clowns I think, his tutorial. They simple enough, but now here are the newb questions

1) are the dimensions in MM's? I am assuming so.
2) if they dont specifically say they come with a controller chip, is that a seperate purchase/card?
3) what are the distinct differences in the types? As in , which are text only, which can I feed TV or video through...

I realize these might seem tarded to ask, but I figured maybe someone might need to know?

Actually it is prolly just me, lol

Cool Nice First Time Mod

Very nice....
I like how the flames came out, just one suggestion you should try dremeling that horizontal v thats part of the flames to make it look more like a flame. Just my opinion but overall its a job done well especially for a first timer. Im in the process of making a whole new front door for my Koolance 650-BU but i'm having a hard time. Also I'm about to hook up the good Ol Dremel and make my H20 symbol for the side of the case but I'm not done with how i want it to look. I was thinking a of taking a glider and modding it so it says H20 instead of the traditional look such as my avatar.

Well done and welcome to PimpRig. Keep Pimpin for humanity!
