Default I think I'm crazy

I was thinking about the side panels I need to fabricate for my new case....... and as I was going through the different materials in my head, I came up with what is either the most genius or the most insane idea of this age:

Popsicle sticks.

That's right, I'm seriously considering making the panels on my new case out of popsicle sticks.

If they fit the theme, then go for it. Just make sure it looks decent because that could look really messy very quick if you're using hot glue.

Just make sure you incorporate some ventilation system, such as side intakes, into the design otherwise that wood would just insulate the heat.

They wouldn't fit the theme, that's the problem. I'd have to paint them something drastic or modify FlashyFlashy, and I'm not sure if I want to do that. Still, it's an idea.

oh, got another idea.

roofing tiles.

wouldn't those have some adverse affects on the heat dissipation of the case?

I just don't want to give up project FlashyFlashy to have a popsicle stick case. I don't have a spare frame to work with....... wait, I do.

What are you going to use to stick them together? And I agree I would probably not use (used) ones!!!... They won't look to good or like you said paint them. You probably are going to double them I suppose, and how high are you going to make thats another issue? Cool idea though!!

well..here is my suggestion for it as usual esp for a project called "flashy flashy". there is not painting req'd and it looks pretty cool in my opinion. here is an example on my bros christmas rig: http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=12575

If you use popsicle stick there is bound to have a lot of gaps unless you double layer it. I agree with the others, do not use used popsicle sticks. Its possible that it would look really nice if your whole case was made out of popsicle still. Sure it may take a long time..but I bet it would gain a lot of attention if completed correctly.

I like the title of this thread btw.

well, if I do popsicle sticks, they'll be craft sticks done in two layers held together with tacky glue. No used popsicle sticks, since I usually chew them to hell when I'm done with my popsicle. for vents, I'll stand the popsicle sticks on their side so it makes a nice | | | | | style grill. once it's all laid out, I'll sand and stain it. should actually look pretty neat. All I need to do now is somehow stabilize this case frame. I took the top panel off, but it was providing needed stability, so I need to go pick up a pop-rivet gun and fabricate a brace.
