| Years ago, I had a desktop case. A big old full-AT one (originally used in an AT&T branded 386/25, which featured an ESDI hard disc!). I destroyed my favourite 486 mainboard trying to install it in there (removed a standoff in a way that cut some traces). It was a nice case, cavernous, 120mm intake (this was back when cases didn't have exhaust fans). I've never seen an ATX case which came even close. My dream is, basically, an big ATX or extended-ATX desktop case, with about ten drive bays (at least 3x5.25, 2x3.5 front-facing) and a 120mm exhaust. It has to be tall enough to clear an Arctic Cooling Accelero S2. The height is the deal-breaker. Almost anything designed as a desktop case seems to have no exhaust, dual-60, or dual-80. As do all 4U rackmounts. 5U rackmounts are much more rare, and very expensive, and often have the 5.25 bays mounted on their side if used as a desktop. It seems the few desktops out there are either 1998 designs warmed over, or bizarre small-size designs with things like "Power supply in the front", or HTPC designs (which means bizarre small size design with aluminium front panel and $50 higher price). If I had the industrial capacity, I'd just find some way to remount the drive cages rotated 90 degrees in my Ark SR-8100 and be done with (but I suspect technically, a four-bay 5.25" cage is too tall to fit if rotated) | ||

like pizza box style. I have a old P3 system that goes both up or lays flat, its got three turnable cd-rom bays(they can be flat or up and down), and I think two 3.5's... The only problem is, my cat knocked it off a counter (i don't know how, but he did) and broke the bezel. It's not a very wide case, but it has room on the back for a 92mm, I think.

Cost more to ship than they're worth! Shame too. They're rock solid cases.

| I just got an antec p160w. Its pretty sexy and i'd as its about 15-20% bigger than the atx im using now. Has a 120mm intake and outake and a sexu brushed aluminum fininish. 4x5.25 bays. 2x3.5 front facing and 4 more 5.25 that face the window. Cost me about $115.
